Suggestions for helfpul links from Feeling Depressed board

Carriemumsnet · 28/05/2005 12:31

Hi all

Following on from varoius discussions about this we have decided to add a disclaimer/helpful notice to all the feeling depressed pages, along the lines of "Please bear in mind that this board is not a substitute for expert help on depression ...etc etc" followed by a link to a sort of mini webguide of places where people could find expert help and advice. We can think of a couple of obvious ones like The Samaritans and Mind - but we're sure there are loads of others that mumsnetters might have come across.

If you could post any useful suggestions here over the course of the next week, we'll get the notice put up on Feeling depressed the following week.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Here are a couple of organisations which you might consider manicdepression

depressionalliance

lemonice · 28/05/2005 13:04

And a campaigning umbrella organisation which unites mental health users and professionals with 60 member organisations the mentalhealthfoundation

sparklymieow · 28/05/2005 13:11

and many of the problems have been because of violent so a number for womans aid would be good.

Just to bump this up for others to post and add that (see my post below on Mental Health Foundation)I didn't mean campaigning just that in addition to bringing a lot of good information from a wide variety of organisations together with useful fact sheets there are also sections with details of legislation and ways to be inolved in the management of mental health and illness matters from professional, user, government and local care perspectives...

I just wondered whether you had any further thoughts on this? Did you decide it was not such a good idea?

Hattie05 · 12/11/2005 09:28

this one to support carers of people with depression/mental health problems.

zippitippitoes · 11/05/2006 10:00

Has anything happened with this?

Cheers Smile

.

babyonboard · 13/05/2006 15:44

why not have 'stickys' like many forums do

It would be good to keep at the top of a board a list of websites/ numbers/particularly good threads. that are relevant!?

carriemumsnet · 14/05/2006 17:20

Well done for the reminder - one of those things that got half done then lost on the midst of maternity madness - we're onto it again now, but do keep nagging if it doesn't appear!

We didn't get a whole lot of suggestions and although I emailled them all offering a link, I think only 1 or 2 got back to me! I did add these into the webguide but I don't think the new category is up yet - we were hoping to have a few more links in it.

So, any more suggestions would be fab. Please :)
