If i name change does the old name become available for other people to use?

They can't pinch it, no, not on their own, not without help from men in sheds.

PortAndLemon · 07/08/2009 10:07

Maybe Geraldine just stood outside the shed and yelled her question in, and the man who answered was actually an enterprising burglar in there nicking spare parts rather than someone who knows what he's talking about?

Or maybe Tech was off in a bit of a reverie and not really listening to Geraldine, just responding in a vague "Mmmm... yes... that's right... yes, absolutely..." way like I do with my mother?

Don't worry, flowery, I did it deliberately to try it out, but won't use it again

Am back as me. flowerybeanbags is retired. The retirement party was fab.

Seriously, I do think that very similar names should be unavailable. It's a bit like identity theft

GeraldineMumsnet · 07/08/2009 10:11

Ok, he "Misunderstood" what I said ie he was wrong

He says he hasn't woken up yet

If you deregister, your old nickname becomes available, but if you only namechange you can switch back

Flamesparrow · 07/08/2009 10:13

Oh I like being able to swipe very similar names I have loads of slightly off regular names in my supply.

The auction was unused names and I think that if they were unused but registered to an active MNer then they asked them first.

lou031205 · 07/08/2009 10:13

While we are here, I could do with a good name - any ideas?

EyeballsintheSky · 07/08/2009 10:14

How to make MN spontaneously combust in one simple step

lou031205 · 07/08/2009 10:14

Flame - you would only want to do that if you were being naughty

BjgTech · 07/08/2009 10:15

Sorry i was asleep looking at dirty mags when Geraldine asked me the question

Flamesparrow · 07/08/2009 10:19

I don't know what you are implying.

I would only ever use such names for good obviously.

PortAndLemon · 07/08/2009 10:19

CoolHandLou would be great!

Or, y'know, flowerybeanbags did have a ring to it... I'm sure no one would get confused...

shineonyoucrazydiamond · 07/08/2009 10:27

I am shocked and appalled that someone working in a female-dominated --shed- office could be so crude!

PortAndLemon · 07/08/2009 10:29

(is it you being BjgTech, shiney? Kudos to whoever it is...?)

VinegarTits · 07/08/2009 10:31

Whats are kudos?
