What happens when you press the red exclamation mark on a post?

I reported a poster this morning, doing this, and have had no reply from MN.

I know you're probably all jolly busy sticking MN back together to stop it from falling over again, but just wondered what the process was?

I reported a poster/thread ages ago and I think it took a while (a day maybe)to get through. Try again

nickytwotimes · 15/05/2009 19:36

Feckedoff has it spot on.

Tinker · 15/05/2009 19:39

Everyone gets an email saying who pressed it.

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/05/2009 20:38

I wish it had been 'poster deleted'!

ooohhhh did someone upset you BIWI? off with their heads

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/05/2009 20:43

Well, I think it was probably someone who upset a lot of people this morning...

(no names, no pack drill)

yappybluedog · 15/05/2009 20:46

whatever you do, DON'T PRESS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nevergoogledragonbutter · 15/05/2009 20:47

did mumsnet fall apart? what have i missed?

dizzydixies · 15/05/2009 20:52

lordy, what have I missed this time - I'm hopeless!!!

NeedaNewName · 15/05/2009 20:55

Damn I always miss the big stuff!

Doodle2U · 15/05/2009 20:55

Tinker is correct. Then MNHQ put a 'sticky' at the top of active convos and the rest of MN is invited to give their true thoughts on the exclamation presser BUT the Exclamation Presser does not get access or visibility to the sticky.

Finally, a full report is sent to the Daily Mail.

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/05/2009 20:57

you mean I've been playing in to the hands of the Daily Misogynist?!

OP posts:
Doodle2U · 15/05/2009 21:03

Oh yes.

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/05/2009 21:05

Initial thread has (finally) been deleted. But this one sort of carries on ... just to give you an idea

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 15/05/2009 21:16

ah shite, has Twinset left

NeedaNewName · 15/05/2009 21:21

Might be a bot dim here but what re exclaimation mark?

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/05/2009 21:25

Look at where your name is on your post, then look to the right - and you will see a red exclamation mark.

MollieO · 15/05/2009 21:28

I've reported 4 threads today and one post. Previously I think I have only reported one thread. I've had one reply saying the post has been removed (on the one that BIWI linked) and one thread (the one that that thread refers to) has been removed but I've not had an email to tell me.

NeedaNewName · 15/05/2009 21:36

I feel left out now, there's no red exclamiation mark at all - what does this mean?!

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/05/2009 21:55

There's definitely one there!

OP posts:
VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/05/2009 22:14

Not an awful lot, judging by today's episode. [disgusted]

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/05/2009 22:18

I am surprised and a bit disappointed that I haven't had any kind of response from MN. Especially given the vitriolic nature of the poster in question.

But I don't know what normally happens/how long it takes, which is why I posted this.

I'm hoping that there's been a lot of action behind the scenes and that therefore replying to me is lower down the list of priorities ...

OP posts:
SaintGeorge · 15/05/2009 22:30

I don't have a red exclamation mark, just text saying 'report post'.

It depends what 'style' of MN you use.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/05/2009 22:33

Sadly, I'm not surprised. It certainly gives the impression that they care less about their demographic, and more that they actually have one.

It's a weekday, there are plenty of hands on deck. No excuse, IMO.
