Could we please have a vaccination place please..PLEASE...PLEASE...

....so that all the people who want to be rude about me, be sarcastic about autism, suggest holding down my DD and jabbing her against my wishes, call me deluded or a liar can form their own club and have meetings AND I CAN HIDE IT.

Other sections are created because they are sensitive and this is now a regular and often nasty subject.

I know I can hide thread but that is always so hard once I have seen them ( and soemtimes people want advice or experiences) but it is just getting so vile now..

Please? Pretty plaese?

Just adding my vote...

Although I don't have a hild with autism, and my ds had the mmr, I've seen how nasty the vaccination threads can get, and realistically most people on those threads don't want to be educated, so hiding the topic wouldn't take away anything iyswim.

I do admit however that when I joined mn I was in the "all people who don't vaccinate are irresponsible" camp and said as much on a thread and was summarily jumped on by dinosaur iirc, and after that I read lots of threads and became a little more open-minded over the subject.

But I still maintain that most people don't want to be educated...

latest thread pretty bizarre but tbh if it wasn't for saintlydame, and you, and others who post intelligently on the subject, I think MN would be a poorer place. I understand why you feel that way though.

I suppose sometimes it is easier to take than others.

I also realise it is easy to take much more notice of one stupid inflamatory poster than to note all the debate going on....

I think this is a great idea but have had no luck so far. It sort of surprises me but doesn't, because it's so political.

Could you start a support thread in health or sn, like the tenners?

Yes.. see what you mean. It was just a second best option really. I was thinking that maybe it would be a good place to share research and ideas on treatment approaches and so on (though I'm like wannabe). Maybe a support thread AND a separate place for debates.

I hope it works out.

pagwatch I think you are amazing, you stay calm when people say such crap.
mut I disagree.
I only found out about the link through meeting a mum who's child had been affected.
if it is hidden will it not lead to more ignorance? surely it would be better if mn hq deleted the offensive comments

I've been thinking about this. I don't think anything needs to be hidden, but on more than one occassion I have been contacted by MNers asking about reactions to vaccinations their children have had. Total confidence - I would never repeat- but it might be really useful if there was a safe space that people could ask questions. I have noticed over the years that many people who have seen their children suffer vaccine reactions, or who are concerned at the time are uncomfortable posting on here (I assume, why else would they CAT me?) when it could be a great resource. Probably more useful than just contacting me as there are so many people on here with knowledge. (I'm not sure where my MN emails are going at the moment btw - as I signed up again in disguise so if someone has contacted me recently apologies but I haven't seen it!). It would give a safe place perhaps for people to address concerns without worrying about coming under gunfire.

I think these special areas are fairly well respected. The termination one seems to be, and I think vaccinations would be the same.

pagwatch, I support you btw, I have the same issues and tbh I thought ALL he intelligent well voiced and well researched arguments on that thread were by people who, for whatever reason had chosen not to vaccinate.
