I want to re-order 'threads I'm on' by most recently active.

Right now it is ordered by which I have posted on most recently.

I want to order it so the top thread is the one that anyone has posted on most recently.

I don't think I can do that at the moment, can I?

(I'd also quite like to be able to hide threads out of 'threads I'm on', but that's a different issue)

Please? Is it going to be really difficult?

And I'd quite like to change my settings so that "threads I started" can go back longer than "threads I am on".

Just a little light work for you MN technie types. No biggie. Right?

Juxal · 21/04/2009 11:49

I want to do what Trillian said too. And I want to be able to order search results by date started or most recently active.

We don't want much really, do we?

BitOfFun · 21/04/2009 11:49

Agree < thumbscrew >

GracieGrace · 21/04/2009 11:50

i want a button at the end of the title taking you to the most recent post.

AND when you have posted that it stays at the bottom of the thread AND a " return to active convos" button

TrillianAstra · 21/04/2009 11:51

Ooh, I want to order search results by date too!

OP posts:
BlingDreaming · 21/04/2009 11:54

And we'll all come back and thank you when it's done!

HelenMumsnet · 21/04/2009 11:59

Ok, Ok . Please form an orderly line, ladies...

Trillian: Are you in MN Classic? Because in MN New, the order is dictated by the thread with the most recent post on it (by anyone).

BlingDreaming/Juxal/BitofFun: being able to choose how you order/hide/generally customise Threads I'm On and Threads I Started is on BigTech's to do list. But it's not exactly at the top - so it may be a while before he gets to it...

BitOfFun · 21/04/2009 12:02

Oh please don't make me go on MN new! The posters' names are teenytiny, and I much prefer knowing they they are talking rubbish by seeing their name first rather than actually reading the post

GracieGrace · 21/04/2009 12:06

how do you change the thing from classic to new?

MuffinBaker · 21/04/2009 12:07

I asked for this a while ago.

Tis on the list.

TrillianAstra · 21/04/2009 12:19

I thought I was on MN new. Now my customise options say I'm not, I'm just on a funny-coloured version of Classic. Bizarre. Whp's been messing with my MN?

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 21/04/2009 12:21

It's still not doing it.

On MN New there is a thingy at the side of each conversation on threads I'm on saying when the last post on that conversation was, but it's still not ordered by that.

KingCanuteIAm · 21/04/2009 12:22

So can we not have the option to have this in Classic then? Perhaps a new customise option? Please? Pretty Please... with nice stuff on top...

GracieGracie: Just click on Customise at the top of the page (second link along under Mumsnet Talk heading) and then click on the Mumsnet New button and press Save.

BitofFun: oh, go on, give it a try. The text is generally bigger in New (although I take your point about the names)

TrillianAstra · 21/04/2009 12:25

Eurgh, where's the rest of Reality's name? Why is it doing that?

I thought I was on New. It looked different to how it did when I started (about 6 months ago)

OP posts:
HelenMumsnet · 21/04/2009 12:29

Trillian: Reality's name has been truncated, so it doesn't cause a big white space at the top of the thread. As soon as her post moves down (assuming you're reading the thread most recent post first) below the ads and tips, her name will be back to all its untruncated glory.

And you must be in MN New, btw, because this doesn't happen in Classic...

TrillianAstra · 21/04/2009 12:32

Nuh-uh, I'm reading in book order (like to see argument discussions in the order they happen) so it's just a normal post in the list, and it only has 'RealityIsMyOnlyDelus...'

OP posts:
HelenMumsnet · 21/04/2009 12:32

Trillian and Reality: Hmm, re ordering. It's working for us here at MNHQ but maybe we're not on so many threads as you.

We're not ignoring you, though - and we will look into it.

HelenMumsnet · 21/04/2009 12:36

Trillian: Ok, so if Reality (or someone with a similarly long name) posts again further down your book-stylee thread, her name should be untruncated.

TrillianAstra · 21/04/2009 12:38

Will stick with new for a bit, see how it goes...
