Can we have a topic purely for budgeting?

I think it would be a good idea. rather than having to search the who;le site for what to make to feed four with £2.50, people could just look in Budgeting. There's a lot of Skintness around!

But call it 'Skintness' not budgeting

I think that is a really great idea!

KatyMac · 15/03/2009 13:49

I certainly need some (I might possibly kill this OU essay if it doesn't finish itself soon)

Nabster · 15/03/2009 13:53

I do think though that it is one thing to cut down on how much you spend (drop a brand or two down for example) but where does it tell you if the quality is still good?

Coldtits · 15/03/2009 14:14

well, that's my point nab. It could tell you HERE.

I agree there is a need for a skintness topic where we can all moan quietly together. Or get competitive about it. First person to figure out how to feed a family of five and two cats on £2.50 a week wins a year's supply of dried butter beans.

LadyOfWaffle · 15/03/2009 14:19

As long as it's not called Thrifty Living - I cannot stand that word!

Nabster · 15/03/2009 14:20

Great idea then, Coldtits! I didn't realise you meant that.

JohnnyTwoHats · 15/03/2009 14:21

Another vote for calling it Skintness.

HelenMumsnet · 15/03/2009 14:47

Hello all.

I shall put your suggestion before the MNHQ New Topic Considerations Committee next week.

lol at competitive skintness, Lady GP

JustineMumsnet · 17/03/2009 11:12

Good-day Mumsnetters can we point you in the direction of the saving money topic here?
Would this not suffice do you think?

Goober · 17/03/2009 11:15

Justine, that's not where I would look if I wanted to feed 5 people for £2.

JustCallMeGoat · 17/03/2009 11:21

call it 'tight arses and their mean ways!'

JustineMumsnet · 17/03/2009 11:24

You wouldn't look in saving money topic? It's meant to cover budgeting really - maybe we should think of a new name then?

Goober · 17/03/2009 11:27

I look in money saving topic if I'm after a free delivery code or a special offer, not for everyday household budgetting.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 17/03/2009 13:57

That one is functioning more or less exclusively as a board for promotional codes. I think it would be good to have two seperate boards.

Coldtits · 17/03/2009 20:14

Can't I have my Skinty's Corner?

Have namechanged in (half hearted) protest.
