Dear MNHQ, I didn't see all the problems kick off over poor Revjustabout...

but I would be grateful if you could tell me that you have at least given serious consideration to banning the posters who were harrassing her.

Thank you.

At our Church the Deacon more or less said Mass whilst the Priest took a snooze! He came on for the Gospel and then to bless the bread the wine, but that was about it!

You'd have been hard pushed to tell who was priest and who was deacon! They even approached my dh to ask him about becoming a Deacon - I can still see his pleading eyes staring at me from over their shoulders as I walked away laughing!

pooka · 20/01/2009 14:36

Fair enough PPH - was just my take on it. BUt I do think that when anyone accuses anyone else of being a troll or question credentials it can be bloody hurtful particularly if you are wrong.

But I loathe the whole "troll, troll, trip, trap" stuff that goes on because I think it says more about the trollhunter than the troll.

Do you accept on the basis of what justine has said though that justabout is not comparable to JF?

pagwatch · 20/01/2009 14:36

Blimey all this 'having words with MN' and taking a 'a dim view' or something.

Its like mumsnetting actually with my mum.

combustiblelemon · 20/01/2009 14:36

Mumsnet policy states that, "We will remove postings that contain personal attacks."

Surely repeated personal attacks by a poster against the same target are worthy of a ban?

StepfordKnife · 20/01/2009 14:37

I think you should all leave it to MNHQ to unpick / untangle and well...errr...shut up actually.

You only have half the facts - conjecture is unhelpful.

I'm in noone's camp, and I didn't follow the thread in question... (although have just quickly skimmed it now)

morningpaper · 20/01/2009 14:38

lol Rhubarb, quite useful having an ancient priest to wheel out for the consecration, like the Face of Boe...

ForeverOptimistic · 20/01/2009 14:38

Lol Pagwatch.

PPH is most defintely a lawyer, you can take the girl out of the courtroom...

Rhubarb · 20/01/2009 14:39

I'm not convinced he wasn't stuffed MP, they just used fishing wire to open and close his mouth whilst the Deacon stood behind and did the voice!

CreativeZen · 20/01/2009 14:39

Not all lawyers appear in court

Carmenere · 20/01/2009 14:42

The old priest on the altar during my uncles funeral actually snored

Rhubarb · 20/01/2009 14:45

LOL!

JustineMumsnet · 20/01/2009 14:46

To clarify MNHQ did not receive any complaints about Revjustabout's actions or posts - but some folk (not PPH as she says) did write in to say they were worried that she was not a Rev and therefore claiming "qualifications/expertise" under false pretences.

At the time we told them we had no reason to believe this was the case and with further investigation we absolutely believe the Rev is a deacon or rev or priest or verger (please delete as applicable).

We also deleted a number of posts which suggested she was a fake/troll from the Gaza thread.

Piffle · 20/01/2009 14:47

Can we leave Moldie blaming at the side? Not all of us opine as one..
I have said openly that I thought she was genuine( rev) and that I enjoyed her posts and wordly experiences.
And as I never frequented spiritual/prayer threads ( being a heathen child) I thought Rev actually alluded to rev as in revving a motorcycle or car and assumed she was a black leather jacket wearer ( with studs), staffordshire-pitbull x dog owner and the driver of a souped up Volvo T5.
So that moldie outing thread came to one good thing.
I learned she was not that...
< disclaimer I am not really as my name suggests full of bullshit>

Rhubarb · 20/01/2009 14:48

Ah now a verger is a glorified caretaker!

CreativeZen · 20/01/2009 14:48

Will you also then delete any posts which accuse pph of harrassing the rev? For balance.

morningpaper · 20/01/2009 14:48

Ah now a VERGER is something totally different: they usually assist in the form of the worship, and usually look like a paedophile

AMumInScotland · 20/01/2009 14:49

the Rev is a deacon or rev or priest or verger (deleted as appropriate).

pagwatch · 20/01/2009 14:49

this is vergering onthe ridiculous now

Rhubarb · 20/01/2009 14:50

Oh and a priest is a fully ordained priest - not an assistant.

So what does that leave us?

AMumInScotland · 20/01/2009 14:50

actually that should be :

the Rev is a deacon or rev or priest or verger (deleted as appropriate).

mrsruffallo · 20/01/2009 14:50

It does seemlike MN is giving in to the bullies on here.
They discouraged discussion of moldies when for some people it was an important issue, now they are asking rev not to use her title as the same old bullies have decided to intimidate her.
It's obvious that she has been discussed on moldies. I thought they set it up to get away from this place.
Talk about have your cake and eat it

ForeverOptimistic · 20/01/2009 14:50

I like it.

Threadworm · 20/01/2009 14:51

I was careful to say that I thought it was the conjunction of several posts by several posters over a prolonged period that constituted harrassment. So I would be very disappointed if any of my posts mentioning PPH as one of the posters who sought to undermine Rev were deleted.

PPH made posts that were judged worthy of being deleted. So it would be odd to delete posts more-or-less claiming that she made personal attacks..

dittany · 20/01/2009 14:52

morningpaper · 20/01/2009 14:52

well yes although technically a deacon is a priest in the sense of ordained into the ministry, but not ordained into the priesthood per se so is unable to consecrate or give absolution

I hope we are all much clearer about the threefold nature of the ordained ministry after this thread
