but I would be grateful if you could tell me that you have at least given serious consideration to banning the posters who were harrassing her.

Thank you.

LadyMuck I think trusting in someone for spiritual advice is probably (if anything) an even greater trust than trusting someone for legal advice - after all we all know what lawyers are like
But we might have to agree to differ I suppose...

controlfreakythecontrolfreak · 20/01/2009 23:06

that does seem v v odd doesn't aitch.... it's not a phrase i've heard before (and am fond of sweary phrases)....

controlfreakythecontrolfreak · 20/01/2009 23:07

pssst, justine. that ladymuck is NO lady..... thought you should know....

yes i haven't heard the phrase fuckigoblin before either - 'tis funny though. No shame in admitting to being a mold, surely?

tortoiseshellWasMusicaYearsAgo · 20/01/2009 23:09

The JF is simply a way of showing that a poster who seems really genuine and helpful can be bogus. And that's why people sometimes have suspicions. As I understand Justine, the dropping the 'Rev' thing is a different issue - to do with not being an 'officially appointed minister to MN'.

JustineMumsnet · 20/01/2009 23:11

HerIllustriousEminenceOnebat the conversation re name change was much more on the lines of a two way one i.e. I wonder why folks are so suspicious of you - could it be something to do with the fact that they think you are carving out an official role - a la Judge Flounce - one way to counter this kind of unpleasant suspicion might be to drop rev from your name, which is kinda counter to MN philosophy anyway? OK let's do that. Ok but let's wait a bit so it doesn't look like you're conceding anything...

does that make any more sense to you?

Nantucket · 20/01/2009 23:11

Just wondering..hypothetically

Would you rather:

Someone who pretended to be kind and thoughtful

or

someone who atually was a vindicative bitch.

I know we've established these weren't the cases here but, just think that on a more general point this whole troll accusing mentality has got rather warped?

I think PPh outing of JF had afffected her judgment here, she stated in her first attack thread that her sense for trolls was 'legendary'.

Her attitude to REv really didn't seem rational at all, she was believing her own hype, I think she thought she was an expert on troll spotting!

RiaParkinson · 20/01/2009 23:11

its not a phrase oft used chez nous either

Lauriefairycake · 20/01/2009 23:12

Sophable - I don't think you make it hard for yourself. Instead you are consistently congruent.

If some can't take it in moldie-land more fool them.

HighPriestessrutyofthe7Seas · 20/01/2009 23:12

suspicions - fine.
abuse - not.

ask to prove credentials - fine.
ask to change name even when everyone knows who she is to satisfy some here - maybe not.

"LadyMuck I think trusting in someone for spiritual advice is probably (if anything) an even greater trust than trusting someone for legal advice"

BUT FGS JUSTINE, IT HAS BEEN PROVEN THAT SHE IS A REV!

After which point, it is utterly irrelevant what andy other trolls have done. And incumbent upon you, surely, to say to the Rev 'thanks for that, sure you understand, Judge Flounce and all". And to the rest of us, 'we are delighted to confrim that the rev is a rev. We will not hear of any furhter attacks on her, particularly any which involve her private life'.

tortoiseshellWasMusicaYearsAgo · 20/01/2009 23:13

Justine - I totally agree with that last post, that trusting for spiritual advice is sometimes more important than legal. Having witnessed someone commit suicide in front of my eyes (and ds1's), I know how utterly knife-edge someone can be, and how vital the right or wrong thing to be said can be. And if there were ever a fake 'Rev' (I know I know, not this one, but another) who wasn't looked into, then disasters could happen.

fuckitgoblin · 20/01/2009 23:13

yes thats a good example aitch
like the little devil on your shoulder saying "do it, do it"
kerrymum ive only repeated what others have said - dont get your knickers twisted about me repeating whats actually already been said by someone else

anyway, this seems to be going in circles now
im still none the wiser really
nighty night

Aitch · 20/01/2009 23:15

that's the fella, fuckit. night night.

controlfreakythecontrolfreak · 20/01/2009 23:15

fuckit seems to have fuckedoff anyway

morningpaper · 20/01/2009 23:16

I've got to go to bed, I've not even STARTED getting through today's list of Things To Worry About

HerIllustriousEminenceOnebat · 20/01/2009 23:16

Justine, x-post.

But what you describe is precisely matching my gay bullied child analogy. 'hey, i wonder what's making them so cross. Do you think you could you just be a little less... you?

So no, it makes no sense to me.

And tbh, you are trumpeting the fact that this is a two-way thing, but I feel that if the Rev were truly happy, she'd have been right here backing you up, consistently and constantly.

I think you're kidding yourself. I'm a bit ashame.d

fuckitgoblin · 20/01/2009 23:17

well, i am now controlfreakythecontrolfreak

Aitch · 20/01/2009 23:17

could one construct a case that there is also a select group of MNers conducting a vendetta against Moldies and that they are using the shitty behaviour of a few people who are both MNers and Moldies to grind their own axes?

bundle · 20/01/2009 23:18

km

a name is just errrrrrrrrrrr a name

specially on t'internet

HighPriestessrutyofthe7Seas · 20/01/2009 23:19

I think it is wrong Justine, particularly in light of the treatment she has had recently. She has done nothing wrong. Important to check her credentials and be transparent about the whole business, but it does seem like you're putting the onus on her.

controlfreakythecontrolfreak · 20/01/2009 23:19

i'm sure one could construct a case about most things aitch if one felt so inclined..... but is that what you think?
