Is it me...or is the site running painfully slowly again?

threads are taking an age to load and I think it's the ads causing problems as I keep getting "internet explorer cannot display the web page" in the wee add boxes.

My typing is also appearing in the box very slowly.....tis like watching a ghost writer in action!

Is it just me?

wordgirl · 15/10/2008 12:52

wordgirl · 15/10/2008 12:52

Oh I am on AOL too Tamarto. Maybe that's it then

mehgalegs · 15/10/2008 12:52

Anyone else got the flickering arrow/pointy finger/hourglass thing going on?

wordgirl · 15/10/2008 12:55

Yes

BCNS · 15/10/2008 12:56

yes

mehgalegs · 15/10/2008 12:57

Where's tech? Think my pooter is about to blow.

annh · 15/10/2008 13:24

Yes, reeeeeeaaaallllyyyy slow today! I blame the Halifax ad.

PoppyCoc · 15/10/2008 13:28

Thought it was my computer messing up again so glad I read this.

YetMoreTech · 15/10/2008 13:29

Hmmm. The server is feeling very laid back and cool as a newt in a puddle. Besides, slowness WITHIN your browser, locally to your computer (the cursor changing, slowness typing, the fan speeding up etc.) is definitely not a server issue. It all points to an evil ad.

We need to find the pattern of which ad(s) are causing the problem. When you're having the problems which (if any) ads are displayed? Keep in mind there are some at the bottom of the page too. Also, which browser you're using would be helpful info.

Tamarto · 15/10/2008 13:35

Ads on go slow page just now are welcome car finance, mini boden and PC world at the top using AOL so i think that = the same as IE

coppertop · 15/10/2008 13:41

When it's at it's slowest (2-3mins to load a page) the only adverts appearing are the tiny ones right at the bottom of the page (Boden and a car finance one). I'm using IE 7.

Kaplumbagadort · 15/10/2008 13:41

Same problem here (Not AOL)
Ads are showing as IE cannot display the webpage.

All i have is a mini Boden small ad at the bottom and one the other side at the bottom which says As easy as tea and biscuits Apply now.

ThreadieKrueger · 15/10/2008 13:42

I'm getting big problems with slow-loading pages, cursor flicking to and from hourglass.

I notice the emediate web address flicking insanely at bottom of page: keeps saying it's contacting an emediate page again and again, v quickly.

Ad visible at side seems to be PCworld ad, but already loaded.

Clear as mud. Sorry not a tecchie.

LackaDAISYcal · 15/10/2008 13:44

Yoo Hoo MNHQ....are you there?

OP posts:
Tamarto · 15/10/2008 13:44

I see all the ads when they load. I'm not getting the ie can't display thing. But i am getting the egg timer flashing thing.

PoppyCoc · 15/10/2008 13:47

I cant see the ads as it says IE cant dispaly the page - not much help eh!

Mercy · 15/10/2008 13:47

Very slow here too.

Will have to come back later I thinnk

dustystar · 15/10/2008 13:48

Its slow for me too and I have a block on the ads so i never see them. For some reason i am getting the internet explorer message though

ThreadieKrueger · 15/10/2008 13:49

Flashy cursor thing coincides with repeated flashing up of 'Waiting for eas.apm.emediate.eas.cu+9714;cre=mu;target=_blank...' (didn't get the rest)
