MNHQ - Is the search function broken or something?

theSuburbanDryad · 13/10/2008 10:45

Being a suspicious Dryad I tried to search on a poster, who had clearly posted (otherwise I wouldn't have anything to be suspicious of) but when i ran the search it came up with 0 messages!

Am I just being thick or is there something up with the search function broken? I ran a search on my own name and it came up with over 500 messages so it's obviously working on some people!

It has been like that for a few days. I did report it, but I think it was overlooked in the recent trollery.

Sometimes it says 0, sometimes it will pick up a few, but clearly not all, posts.

I have found it happening on at least half a dozen posters lapin.

theSuburbanDryad · 13/10/2008 10:51

Lapin - no, i know what's been going with Cod.

Will FB you if you want to know but obviously don't want to post on here!!

Search my name (this version) and the AIBU topic for example.

It brings up one post but I posted 3 times on that thread.

So it is obviously missing posts somehow. In some cases, that means no posts show up at all.

YetMoreTech · 13/10/2008 17:51

This should be fixed now. Could you let me know if you see it happening again please?

Mucho thanks.

SaTanicGore · 13/10/2008 17:57

Nope, still not picking up all messages YMT.

CODisGOD · 13/10/2008 17:59

YetiTechi has broken it again

YetMoreTech · 13/10/2008 19:20

SaTanicGore, could you give me an example please?

SaTanicGore · 13/10/2008 19:30

See my post 10.54 on this thread.

Still applies.

nannynick · 13/10/2008 19:39

That thread only includes one post by you, I can't see any others - including by searching using Ctrl-F in browser. Mumsnet Search shows only one entry. Did you perhaps post under a different username?

SaTanicGore · 13/10/2008 19:41

There are now 2 AIBU threads I have posted on under this name.

The one you mention and this one

Both threads show up for me when I search my name+AIBU, but only show as 2 posts, not the 5 that there are in total.

SaTanicGore · 13/10/2008 19:42

Although I have just spotted why they aren't getting picked up.

Search always ignored upper and lower case letters. I think it is now distinguishing between them.

SaTanicGore · 13/10/2008 19:45

No, ignore that about upper/lower case.

Doesn't matter if I search on SaTanic or Satanic, it is still missing some posts.

And apparently sometimes threads if you can only see one of the threads nannynick.

nannynick · 13/10/2008 19:57

I see it happening on my screen as well... it's not showing two of posts from 10 October. Maybe there was a glitch in the indexing on Friday.
