It's like a free for all.

Anyone who posts there is considered fair game.

If you post in ibu and get jumped on then it is considered your own fault for posting in ibu.

I think it's horrible.

OP posts:
suzywong · 11/09/2008 12:05

keep it up
it's like reality tv with voting/bear pit/ducking stool

it serves a purpose

yes iut's shit BUT at least this way you can hide it

but blu has typed sensible thigns

therefore there is no solution.

DON'T POST THERE. IT'S BADLANDS

lulumama · 11/09/2008 12:07

then there will just be a lot more convos all over the board with people getting jumped on,so why not keep the majority in one place, i.e in the AIBU topic

CostaRicanCod · 11/09/2008 12:09

its shit but we all love having a go

poeter aubu to find public wanking terrible

no evberyoens says "YANBU"

then afetr about 70 - 100 posts someone comes on and says "have oyu considered that teh wanker may have learnign issues"

and that the op is a bully

then all teh initial supporters seem to have domeithgn else to do

and then it turns

MrsJohnCusack · 11/09/2008 12:10

yes just keep it
that way I can keep avoiding it like the plague

bundle · 11/09/2008 12:11

spot on cod
esp where fruit involved (not with wankign, just generally)

PeppermintPatty · 11/09/2008 12:11

Well I've certainly learnt MY lesson about starting an AIBU thread

I guess most people who have been on here a while know the risks of posting on AIBU.

But a lot of newbies don't. And they could be quite upset by some of the comments they receive.

So maybe it should come with a warning - enter at your own risk

But that would spoil the fun for all the mumsnetters who like to pick a fight with a naive newbie

CostaRicanCod · 11/09/2008 12:12

then someoen posts
"iam cryign ehre"
everyoen thinks oh fgs
then justine has 20 emailes ocmplaining

then peopel talk abotu it on msn

CatIsSleepy · 11/09/2008 12:12

well it does seem to bring the worst out in people
but somehow i think that would happen anyway

SoupDragon · 11/09/2008 12:14

No pitchforks but I do have Flaming Torches, a Witch Hunt and Dunking Stool

HTH.

theSuburbanDryad · 11/09/2008 12:16

I heart AIBU. In the same way people used to like going to Bedlam in the olden days.

It makes me feel so dirty but I love it.

Blu · 11/09/2008 12:16

And i would like a pop-up of a pitchfork - or adverts for pitchforks - t apear on 'AIBU' threads - it would perhaps remind people that it was started as a bit of a joke reposnse to the 'AIBU' MN phenomenum...and that real witchunts are NOT in the spirit on MN!here

LOL at Cod's ecology of AIBU

bundle · 11/09/2008 12:20

pitchfork popups good idea

AIBU is kind of a Jeremy Kyle corner, surely?

zippitippitoes · 11/09/2008 12:22

i think it is all part of the game that mn is a lot of the time

there are also things like

whetyher yopu jump in as one of the fist respondees to an op that could go either way

some people are devious and let it run for a while to see which way the tide is turning so they can look reasonable later

others just go straight in and take their chances lol

this is only partially relevant to aibu threads

it is notcieable all over

CrushWithEyeliner · 11/09/2008 12:23

oh no i love it...more Steve Wilkos than JK

bundle · 11/09/2008 12:24

who he?

cocolepew · 11/09/2008 12:25

Maybe it should come it a warning 'Do Not Post on AIBU unless you have balls of steel are ready to be told that maybe, yes you are being unreasonable. And you might cry.'. Justine I think it's a bit of a stretch to blame this on the Goverment

CostaRicanCod · 11/09/2008 12:27

then poster reveals that actually they wer ein a wanekrs self help gourp as a Yougn adult and that peopel neednt be so harsh and " after the terrible eyas i haev had"

that we are all supposed ot knwo about

melpomene · 11/09/2008 12:28

YABU to want it got rid of.

Perhaps there should be two different topics: one topic for people who genuinely want to know if they are unreasonable and are prepared to be told they are, and a separate topic for people who want to vent/rant about something that has upset them.

CrushWithEyeliner · 11/09/2008 12:29

he is the JK of USA

I like the way after one person points out that they are or are not being U the nature of the whole thread seems to swing the other way; like the others were waiting for one person to say it to give them courage to..LOL

zippitippitoes · 11/09/2008 12:30

oh drip feeding adding sob story moving goalposts extra information that couldnt fit in the op is absolutely essential

bundle · 11/09/2008 12:32

maybe there should be a swingometer at bottom of screen, so show just how unreasonable people think the OP is..

CatIsSleepy · 11/09/2008 12:34

i do think if the OP has actually agreed they are BU then the thread should stop somehow rather than having another 100 people wade in with their twopennorth

zippitippitoes · 11/09/2008 12:36

you cant really stop any thread tho can you

unless yopu ask for it to be deleted
