and that's just one count.

The site is really too slow at the moment for it to work.

YMT I am shocked at your statement

BoysAreLikeDogs · 11/09/2008 20:32

YetMoreTech · 11/09/2008 20:39

too slow for me

i have firefox

Soapbox · 11/09/2008 20:43

Can we get rid of the AOL broad band ad - it really is screwing things up for me! Taking about 30 secs for a page to load!

In fact, forget it - I'll install adblocker.

themildmanneredstalker · 11/09/2008 20:43

it just crashed on me when i was replying to tech.

zippitippitoes · 11/09/2008 20:45

one of the worst ads recently was that one with the cartoon chimps on oi couldnt mn at all because evertime it appeared my pc crashed

JustineMumsnet · 12/09/2008 21:19

Look, we know it's slow, we're very sorry but we are working on it, please bear with us. .

(We really are working on it honest - throwing cash at new servers like there's no tomorrow - and dear YMT is totally on the case so it really should get better soon because he's v clever and spends a lot of time thinking about ad performance and stuff. It's not that anyone's broken anything either - it's that MN's getting bigger and busier and we're just scampering to keep up, what with being lowly amateurs and having no big owner or government grants and all that .)

So please bear with us. A million apologies again - blame me, blame me. I'm usually to blame.

(Blame me)

MerlinsBeard · 12/09/2008 21:27

it's so slooooooow

MerlinsBeard · 12/09/2008 21:32

seems to be waiting for ad.doubleclick.net (or something)

I too have an adblocker but its usually disabled for MN (not that i ever click on a MN ad but it feels wrong!),

can't we just close the doors?

or how about this .. let's have a grammar test before you can post

aww g'wan Justine, you know you wants to Gin

Twiglett · 12/09/2008 22:10

(I personally think it all started going wrong when you stopped locking Techs in the shed .. I think you need to put a shed in your spacious new office and lock the Techs in it)

Just to say that I sympathise bigtime with Justine and YMT, currently being on the receiving end of similar complaints at work. And I'm not the really tecchie tecchie so I really can't do anything about it, except make a damned nuisance of myself.

How slow is slow though, honestly. I am using Mumsnet on a 33kbs dial up connection (not being able to get broadband in my neck of the woods) and it's perfectly usable. Are we all just too darned impatient these days?

I'll download that plug-in YMT (if it's any use for a dial-up connection that is).

zippitippitoes · 12/09/2008 22:30

jusdtine i did ask about mn numbers recently and unless you secretly answered while my back was turned you didsnt reveal your stats

morningpaper · 12/09/2008 22:32

can I say that I have met YMT and if you want to know what he looks like, look at the third picture on his profile, and that is EXACTLY what he looks like behind his ENORMOUS monitor. EXACTLY. It is a terrifying likeness.

zippitippitoes · 12/09/2008 22:33

heard a rumour that mn hq were negotiating a deal powering the hadron collider via posting energy or was that vice versa

YetMoreTech · 13/09/2008 00:01

What a fab thread. First I get called young, and then Justine calls me dear. Hmmm. I bet she wants something.

And as for you MP, that's utter crap. We look completely different - I wear glasses!

zippitippitoes · 13/09/2008 00:02

well you arte quite sexy and assertive

FabioBigBangBlackHole · 13/09/2008 00:08

"It's not that anyone's broken anything either "

Thank the good lord lidl and his reasonably priced catfud.

I logged onto facebook earlier this week and the whole thing crashed.

I was expecting blame here too, tbh, but thankfully YMT took one for me the team, so to speak.

lol

It's a gremlin that weighs very little.

SuperPsychoTrollSlayer · 13/09/2008 00:19

in fact, it is akchully a little know fact that gramlins are loyal only to MN, and are not found elsewhere. they came about because of not named people and rockets!
