MNHQ not acknowledging reported posts

DoneAndNotDusted · 01/09/2026 17:28

I've reported posts occasionally; usually if I think a poster isn't whom they seem or are spamming.

Today I reported a poster with no previous history, who is posting links to a company they may have connections with. So far, they have posted 3 times. I reported under "spam/advertising".

I am finding that MNHQ is not acknowledging my reports now, whereas they used to in the past, nor are they letting me know if a post has been deleted.

I am wondering if they don't bother any more? It is useful to know if they are going to look at the posts and remove them if necessary. It's not as if I'm spending all day on Mumsnet reporting people!

Has anyone else found this?

I don't think they ever respond to reports of spamming.

I quite often report ad posts and generally don't get an acknowledgement of my report.

TY78910 · 01/09/2026 17:43

i never got an acknowledgment or follow up for spam but they always disappear

AppleButterGutter · 01/09/2026 17:44

You don't get a reply if you are reporting ads/spam - it (usually just gets deleted).

I always get a reply if it is anything else.

I don’t want an email so I’m glad.

Thanks everyone for the clarification, I didn't know that these types of reports aren't acknowledged. And the posts I'm referring to here have now gone 🙂

I think there would just be too many to respond to. The spam is relentless, and usually first thing in the morning.

Hi OP,

Thanks for raising this.

We receive a large number of spam reports, and users who report spam often (very helpfully!) flag several posts at a time. If we sent an update on the outcome of every spam report, we’d risk filling people’s inboxes with not-very-important moderation notifications.

For that reason, we don’t routinely respond to spam reports, but please be assured that we do review them and take action where required. We really appreciate people taking the time to flag potential spam to us.

If you’d ever like clarification on a particular moderation decision, you’re very welcome to get in touch with us via the report system or at [email protected].

I’m grateful that you don’t send emails for every report, I would be getting loads and they aren’t necessary.
