Unable to access Mumsnet on laptop due to security verification

Good evening.
I am unable to get into Mumsnet on my laptop. The screen says performing security verification. I’m using up-to-date Edge.
I have refreshed and looked at the troubleshooting documentation, but no joy.
Please help!

Yeah I've been getting that security verification, and also getting entirely blocked from logging in from a family member's wifi. Support says they're looking into it, but it's a bloody nuisance.

Seems to be a Cloudflare issue

gamerchick · 23/07/2026 22:24

That cloud flare thing is being a bit of a pest atm.

senua · 23/07/2026 22:27

I get it, too. Sometimes. Other times not. Don't know why. It seems to have a thing against the gardening forum!Grin
I just sit there for a bit and it sorts itself out.

Hohofortherobbers · 23/07/2026 22:41

I was locked out of the app for an hour, just an error message

JewelleryCat · 23/07/2026 23:17

Yes, just happened to me twice a few moments ago. I had to click a box to verify I was human

Edited to say just happened to me again when I clicked “threads I’m on” to click the verify I’m human box

CaffeinatedMum · 23/07/2026 23:18

I’ve been getting it too but on a phone

BridgetYourFortyDaysAreUp · 23/07/2026 23:25

Yes, Cloudflare issues for me as well, on iPad and phone. Keeps booting me out and I have to log in again. Hope it's temporary. Probably my phone telling me to go to bed! 😁

Sesquioxides · 24/07/2026 05:07

Yes cloudflare issues here too. I verified, read a short-ish thread, typed out a very long response and it wouldn’t post until I re-verified with cloudflare, at which point it ate my post and I gave up.

AmeliaPMumsnet · 24/07/2026 11:41

Hi all,

Thank you for flagging this and sorry about this. We're aware of the issue and are looking into a number of possible solutions. This is happening because we're seeing periods of very high traffic at certain times of the day, which puts pressure on our servers and causes additional security measures to kick in.

For those of you who aren't using the app, could you let me know:

  • Which browser are you using to access Mumsnet?
  • Do you usually stay logged in between sessions, or do you log out and back in each time you visit?
  • Do you know if you're accessing Mumsnet in incognito or private browsing mode?

This information will help us narrow down what's causing the issue and find the best way to resolve it.

Thanks very much.

@AmeliaPMumsnet it hasn’t happened for me today yet. Yesterday evening I was using the Safari browser and I stay logged into MN. I don’t access in private browser mode

BridgetYourFortyDaysAreUp · 24/07/2026 12:08

@AmeliaPMumsnet Thanks for the update.

I always log out between sessions. Always clear cache.

Late last night, iOS, Safari, private mode, iPhone, not app

Also late last night, iOS, Safari, private mode, iPad, not app. (but this one has dynamic IP address which causes me problems, not Cloudflare, on many other sites, occasionally)

This morning, as both above, no problems yet.

Sesquioxides · 25/07/2026 12:09

@AmeliaPMumsnetI stay logged in, I have had it on Safari on my iphone and on Google Chrome on my macbook with latest Tahoe OS. Phone, Macbook and Chrome are all fully updated but it was a problem before I updated too. I don’t use private browsing mode to access MN but my iphone has this automatic private relay thing that pops up and which I don’t seem to have control over. I travel for work which is a separate issue but I’m specifically talking about when I’m in the uk in this post.

BridgetYourFortyDaysAreUp · 25/07/2026 15:26

@AmeliaPMumsnet I've been having a lot of Cloudflare issues on my iPad since I posted yesterday afternoon, but I think it may be a dynamic IP address problem entirely, so perhaps not a MN problem at all!

My phone has been fine since yesterday.

AmeliaPMumsnet · 27/07/2026 11:22

Thanks all, this is all super useful information. We're continuing to look into this and will let you know if we have any updates.

Thanks so much for your patience!
