Yet another ‘advert’ blocking the page 😡

What on earth is this! It’s getting ridiculous now with adverts disrupting the page.
i’m on my iPad.

it’s awful. It’s genuinely making the site unusable

M&S back today and still blocking the page. On another an add, maybe the same one disappeared - but then left a book saying it had gone which still blocked the post. Refreshing the page got rid of that.

Ah sorry didn't see your reply in time. It's not doing it today anyway so hopefully fixed...

Just expecting people to click on the 'X' (if you can see/find it) isn't a reasonable response, no ad should block or partially block the site.

I’m getting the black box of death too. An advert plays, then the box turns black and there’s no way to close it. It’s pretty big. I had replied to a thread and couldn’t access the ‘post’ button due to the ad popping up then refusing to close, so I gave up.

I don't know if it's the same thing, but I keep on getting a total screen hijack whilst writing a post on a thread, where with no warning my entire screen (as in, it goes whole-screen) is taken over by an advert film for 10 seconds! The last one just happened and it was some recipe crap from Morrisons. I didn't see a pop-up that I may have inadvertently clicked on, and I have no idea where it's coming from.

and I also get this black rectangle of doom, with no way of clicking it away until it vanishes.

I got a monzo ad this morning that took over my whole screen ( the whole screen of my phone) in black. Caught me off guard didn’t screenshot. But it is ridiculous.

When this happened last year and MN took so long to fix it (if indeed it did get fixed?) a lovely user helpfully posted that switching to the DuckDuckGo browser solved it - and it's true, I've been using it ever since. It will resolve all the ad issues (which always seem to be exclusive to MN for some reason).

The ads are worse than any website I know. Some blog type sites with recipes and crochet patterns are riddled with pop ups etc, but at least there’s usually an option to jump past the tutorials and straight to the recipe/pattern and cut down the intrusion somewhat. With Mumsnet there’s nowhere to go. It’s constant bombardment. Surely there’s a happy medium?

Morning, everyone. We're in touch with the ad partner that we think is supplying these ads but we need a bit more information to solve the problem.

Next time one of these appears, we'd be really grateful to have a screenshot along with the exact URL of the Mumsnet page you were on when it happened, the date and time of it occurring, the type of browser and device you are using and if you can click on the ad itself afterwards the URL of the ad, too.

If anyone happens to be able to get a video of it happening that would be even more useful but we appreciate that's going to be a bit of an ask.

Mumsnet is also the only site I use where pages freeze and I have to exit them. I suspect this is also caused by the adds.
