Why are my posts being deleted without explanation?

I shared a Juniper referral code on the promos board. Originally I’d posted one that mentioned the medical names and that was hidden for review then deleted. I hunted around and found a
site stuff thread saying weight loss codes were now not allowed if you mention the names and prices.

so I went back to the promos board because I could (-and still can!) see promo code for other companies) and rewrote a similar
message with my juniper referral following exactly the same pattern as the live threads - no drug or price mention. Just company name and code.

Why was that deleted when Voy, for example, is left allowed?

I’d guess that MN can flag users to have their posts scanned for certain words and posts get automatically deleted if they contain them.
You’re now flagged but other users have not yet been so their posts stand for now.

Oh wow, really? That doesn’t seem right and it would be helpful if there was an explanation message or email! . I’m an old regular and had only previously posted a code when the weight loss threads board was live and didn’t realise there was a problem. As I said, I then re-posted following the same format as others. Also seems weird that we can have an entire board talking skit out experiences on these and then not be able to help others get them cheaper.

but thanks, appreciate you answering.

You can type the @ symbol in front of the capital letters mnhq and the your question. I believe that will alert MN and you should get a response.

SilenceInside · 08/12/2025 12:47

Weight loss promo codes are not allowed anywhere now, that’s quite a recent change. MN will delete them, but usually only when they are reported manually by users. They may also delete posts if other posts have been reported and you are viewed as spamming the same post on multiple boards. The other posts are probably still up because no one has reported them yet, or not enough people have reported them yet.

Typing the @ symbol and then adding MNHQ doesn’t do anything or notify anyone btw.

Thanks for your answer but that does seem very odd when there are several Voy ones live that have been there a while and when they mention ASA saying you cannot promote codes with prices (fair enough) and not that promo codes per se are a problem.

A pinned post explaining a change in policy would be helpful. And for that to be applied equally.

I asked about this a while ago, when the specific Weight Loss Promo Codes board was removed: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/site_stuff/5435371-weight-loss-promo-codes-topic-removed?utm_campaign=thread&utm_medium=share

I agree that it would be helpful and clearer if MN updated the pinned message at the top of the Promo Codes board with their current position, but as you can see they have done precisely nothing since I asked them about this at the start of November. It is clear though from what is pinned that weight loss promo codes are "not allowed" at all, but as MN rely on users to report posts before they are moderated, they aren't going to go back and scan old threads for posts to delete.

So, I would get reporting those other posts/threads and see if additional people reporting them encourages MN to delete them!

Weight Loss Promo Codes topic removed? | Mumsnet

Has the [[https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-promo-codes weight loss promo codes]] section been deliberately removed? The link is broken and it...

Thanks - yours was the only message I could find at all and their reply says the guidelines say you can’t put discount codes next to drug names and prices. Which the other live posts are careful to avoid. One was just last night and one is a long-running one near the top of the board.

The fact there isn’t a clearer guideline or blanket policy after your question is not at all helpful. Hmmm. Will let you know if I get anything back at all.

juniper encourage you to share with anyone and anywhere so it is bizarre.

Juniper may well get into hot water with the various regulators for doing that though, if there's any suggestion that POM are being advertised by name, which is impossible to control if you allow people to widely promote their discount codes. Inevitably most people will not comply with the rules, as they won't be aware of the existence of these rules and what they are.

BeckyAMumsnet · 08/12/2025 16:24

Hello and thanks for posting. As other posters have mentioned, updated guidance from the Advertising Standards Authority means users should not post discount codes or prices for named prescription medicines, and we've been removing these when reported to us. Some, like yours @needtolose70lb may be caught by our spam filters before appearing on the site.
