Failure to recognise existing user name

Hi, I am a very long standing mu.snet user. I name change periodically , probably need to do so soon.

On some threads not all I get an error message- i cannot see what I am typing and receive the message I need to post under the same user name
It might be a new thread. I haven't name changed in perhaps 3 years.

This is on the app on my android phone. What is going on! Help!

Thanks for getting in touch. We'll have a look at your account and see if we can work out what's going on. Can we ask a few questions though?

1. Is this only happening on the Android app? If you could try posting on the main site and see how that goes, that would be useful to know.
2. Which threads was this happening on? If it's possible to send us links to the threads where you were getting the error message that might tell us something.
3. If it happens again could you post a screenshot here of what you're seeing please?
4. Could you also tell us what sort of Android device (ie make and model) you are using?

I get something like that in the iPad app.
I dont think it’s a problem with the usernames - it’s that something still isn’t right with the comments box, it sometimes can’t be seen after starting to type. Then what can happen is that the focus can get switched to the ‘posting as… ‘ field below, which is where you should be able to change to one of your other NNs (if you’ve not already posted on this thread) - obviously whatever you typed isn’t a recognised user name. Cancelling out of that leaves it as my normal NN but the comment I’m trying to enter nowhere to be seen.

part, though not all, of the problem is that in landscape orientation the ‘keyboard’ takes up nearly half of the screen, the ‘posting as’ and icons for tools take a couple of lines, the header including an advert takes about quarter of the screen which leaves only 2-3 lines for the comment.
