More giant ads

Yet again, more ads making the site unusable. How exactly are you supposed to get rid of this when there is no 'x' or skip option?

Morning @HesarealJacquelineHigh and @YellowKettle . We'll see if we can track these down now to have a look. If anyone is able to post a url for either of these ads or give us any more info on them such as company name or place on the board where you saw them, that would be really helpful.

We can see that there's no 'skip' or 'x' button to close (this can be 'normal' for some ads) but are you able to scroll past them?

@HebeMumsnet no you can’t scroll past them, the page goes blank and then reloads to the first post at the top of the thread, so you are constantly loosing your place.

No you can't scroll past it, it just endlessly scrolls down to the bottom. The only way of getting rid of it was to close my tab and re open it

The ad itself won't load anyway

It either crashes the page or if you get to the page, you are dumped in a random location even if you had a bookmark. That might not be related to the ad though - I don't know.

The only way to fix this is that they turn off ads completely. They will just keep coming back clearly. Use the app if you can.

I signed up for premium in the end. I really resented doing it but my god it’s worth few pounds. Mine never reloads anymore and my phone doesn’t overheat. The ads used to drain my phone battery so fast.

I cleared my browsing history and it seemed to sort it. Don't know if its just coincidence.

I’ve reported this previously and nothing has changed. Its now reloading and taking me back to the top of the page. On EVERY thread i read. The adverts are too much and ruining the experience so much and now causing the pages to reload while i’m trying to read them!

I’m sick of the ads at the right hand side too, they’re distracting and utterly pointless.

The ads have made using MN in a browser on my phone impossible. I’ve started using the Ap but actually I hate it. the layout is anoying, the lack of identification of my posts via the OP and othered after 20+ years I’m not not sure I can be bothered with the site much longer.

Morning, everyone. Can we ask, for people experiencing this problem of the pages reloading and sending you to the top of the page, can you see if there's a particular ad appearing to cause this? We've looked at the ads screenshot at the top of this thread and haven't been able to replicate this issue so we're trying to work out if those were one-off problems or if those particular ads are causing issues for many people.

We know it's a big ask as it's difficult to know when it's going to happen but if anyone is able to get a screen video of this in action and can send it to [email protected] (and then just let us know on this thread that you've emailed it in) that would be really helpful. It's also useful to have a screenshot of any ads that seem to be causing this issue, or information on what the ad was for and what happened when it appeared.

Clearning your cache does also seem to be helping as we solve some of these problems individually. You don't have to clear everything - just your Mumsnet cookies.

I had to close the entire page and re-load MN just to get the giant ad off my screen. No way to click off other than clicking on the co-op funeral adverts!

@HebeMumsnet As per above, I've sent screenshots to the email address above of the same adverts taking over the entire page.
