It will serve them right if people leave. I’m hardly here nowadays. I wanted to post to say come over to Reddit. When you find the areas that interest you, it’s great! Not quite as easy to navigate, but I’m getting there!

I dm think we’re entitled to more information on how our data is used.

DIYagainstMould · 06/10/2025 22:36

This is a site for very broken people also....remember this.

You should have posted that in Pedants' Corner.

If you are going to start a thread in Site Stuff saying " This site is broken" surely you should specify in what ways you think the site is broken?
Making a blanket statement without any elaboration isn't constructive.

I don't think using this topic to advertise Reddit is appropriate. And tbh although I occasionally have a wee glance at Reddit I don't find it user friendly or particularly enjoyable or helpful.

To be honest it would make no difference. They’re well aware of the issues which have been present for months for some people such as not going back to the last post you read when you reopen a thread. They’ve done nothing and often ignore questions on the couple of threads in Site Stuff about it.

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/site_stuff/5413951-website-completely-unusable-again
Sadly they don’t seem to care. I posted screenshot after screenshot of it crashing on different days due to ads. After an initial suggestion of ‘clicking the x on the ad’ 🙄 no response. I searched for my previous thread to link it here and the site crashed and reloaded. Tedious. I did download the app as the site is unusable but I don’t like the format and you lose some functionality like ‘see next’ on the OP.

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 07/10/2025 06:56

I can recommend the app. I find the website almost unusable now.

Tollington · 07/10/2025 07:06

There’s subs on Reddit taking the piss out of the posts on MN

ComfortFoodCafe · 07/10/2025 07:09

I use the app, cant stand the website. Would rather have the old pop up adverts than that. It’s advertising overkill must be making a pretty penny for those who accidentally constantly click on the ads.

Motnight · 07/10/2025 07:10

Isn't this a bit like standing in M and S, Op, and telling shoppers there to go to Waitrose?

Yamamm · 07/10/2025 07:11

Yes. Why do successful businesses have to keep expanding? Money I know. It’s a shame.

More like telling them to go to Urban Outfitters!

I like Reddit for film chat but it is a really, really different vibe.

Thissickbeat · 07/10/2025 08:42

If they didn't make money from ads you'd soon all complain when the site is never updated or gets hacked again.

BeckyAMumsnet · 07/10/2025 11:49

Sorry to hear you’ve been finding the site frustrating, @FedUpWithDilemmas.
Could you tell us what in particular hasn’t been working well for you? It’s really helpful for us to understand what users are experiencing so we can make improvements.

@ThrivingIn2025ing apologies - we missed your last update. We'll be in touch off the boards.

I’ve been on multiple threads feeding back about the problems. It all comes down to adverts that don’t work properly, causing browsing to be impossible.

As has been said many, many times, most of us don’t mind normal ads, but when they make browsing impossible and when they make the site look like a 00s dodgy virus riddled webpage, something is wrong.

Reddit is what you make it. Choose forums wisely and it’s great. There are ads/ promoted items on there, but they work with (and not against) the browsing experience.

I have been spending more time on another forum recently and less here. There’s no ads on it, and has a better format than here.

I did try Reddit but it’s not that user friendly.

I’ll keep coming back here though too! 😁
