Mumsnet constantly freezing

Is anyone else having this issue? It's been happening to me for days, and today the site is almost unusable. It's taken three goes for me to get as far as opening it, going to Talk, and getting to Site stuff to write this.

It's not happening with any other sites or forums. Just this.

Using Chrome on my Samsung S24.

Thanks. I'm glad it's not just me. I'm now on my laptop and the site is fine on here. But I can't use it on my phone at all, now.

Same, Safari on a Mac. I keep thinking the thread’s been yanked as I’m reading, but no, it’s just chronically glitchy.

Initially I thought it was freezing each time I reached an advert, but it was happening almost instantly today.

Thanks for getting in touch. We are aware of this issue with the site freezing and are working on a fix as we speak. We'll be honest, it's been more tricky than we thought, so we've no date for a fix at the moment but as soon as there's any update, we will share it on Site Stuff. Thanks for your patience.

I think I’ve solved it by swopping from chrome to Safari and installing an ad blocker. So it’s to do with the ads, and I’m pretty sure it’s the ads that are scattered throughout the thread, as I’m still getting the ones at the top and it’s loading ok.

I can only use the app as well. It’s really frustrating. I much prefer the web browser.

I thought it was my phone playing up and took it into the shop several times. They even put a new SIM card in for me.

It's been like this for months for me. I can only use it if I open a private browser. Then the adverts don't crash it, for some reason.

Yes sorry to say this issue has come back for me too in the last few days. Not quite as bad as it was a few months ago, often the page will eventually load (15-20 seconds) once the ads are loaded but sometimes it just hangs too. Can feel phone getting hot as it does this- screen dims. Have to hard quit safari (swipe up) to get any pages on any site to work again.

Delete all your cookies and saved data on whatever browser you are using and try again.

Once again it’s pretty much broken for me on safari. Chrome is fine. But safari just hangs now. Matt tech @MNHQ explained it to me when I chatted to him; it’s a bug that comes through on rouge cookies that safari can’t deal with, and it crashes.

Same problems here- site freezing, phone overheating. Only ever on Mumsnet.

I was told to change the settings but I can’t get on it to do this. I’ve given up and on the app.

I’m glad I found this thread as I’ve been experiencing problems for at least 10 days. I have never had problems using my IPad to browse Mumsnet, until recently.
i will wait to see if things improve.

Once the Admiral ad blocker stuff came in it starting getting unusable on Safari on iPhone. I tried clearing the cache in Safari and it just started up again. I’ve switched to using the Chrome browser just for MN and so far it seems OK.
