So I've just had the same problem twice in two different threads where it says "an unexpected error occurred please try again" every time I try to respond to a thread with a post with a link in it. The second link I tried to share was a Mumsnet link to a thread so I don't think it's the content of the links that's the issue here. Is it just me? I'm on a MacBook Air M1 on Google Chrome.

Edit: It's mysteriously working fine now. Sorry. IDK what's going on. 🤔

Hi there @HatsOffToThePigeons. Glad to hear it seems to be working again now. Perhaps was just a temporary glitch. If it happens again just drop us a line here.

HatsOffToThePigeons · 11/06/2025 11:18

Thanks. It's immediately doing it again. Error at bottom of screenshot. Even if I bin the link preview it won't let me post links.

I had this yesterday, but then it posted fine. Very odd

NeedForSpeed · 11/06/2025 12:12

It's been happening multiple times a day for me for weeks..... I'm on an Android phone with Chrome.

Helleofabore · 11/06/2025 16:23

It is has been happening to me for weeks too. iPhone and iMac via safari and on windows as well.

I have found that I have to refresh the page, sometimes multiple times to get it to post. Or I have to copy, refresh and then paste to get it to post.

I thought it was MN trying to tell me something 😁

HatsOffToThePigeons · 12/06/2025 16:06

@HebeMumsnet still having this problem today. Screenshot above (from yesterday).

Thanks for letting us know that this is still an issue, @HatsOffToThePigeons - we're taking a look now and will be back as soon as possible.

Helleofabore · 13/06/2025 12:37

It has happened today for me too. Both phone based and desktop based safari.

I found today I had to copy the post and paste it and it then posted.

Sometimes I don't have to do that, I can just refresh the page. But today I have had to.

Balloonhearts · 13/06/2025 12:38

I've been having a glitch where it tells me I'm not logged in,then I refresh the page and it's fine. Sites been very buggy lately.

This happened a lot today.

Plus now there is a cloudflare banning message coming up
after trying to post links. Again, it is coming up on windows and apple devices.

HatsOffToThePigeons · 24/06/2025 08:48

@Helleofabore I've found a workaround after it did it to me again yesterday. I posted my post then went in and edited it immediately to add the link, that worked to get a link posted. I wish they'd figure out what the problem was though.

Morning! Could anyone experiencing this let us know the following, please?

  • Does this only happen when you try to post a link?
  • Is it every time you try to post a link now or only intermittently?
  • Do you have a good internet connection? We have seen this before where it happens to users on phones trying to post when they've bad signal so we just want to rule that out.

Thank you!

Yes, only when posting links.

Every time I post more than one link (ie to dresses or similar!) varies when it's a single link.

Excellent WiFi signal as far as I know.

BellaMumsnet · 25/06/2025 18:29

@NeedForSpeed this is really helpful, thank you for sharing the additional info, we are looking into it. Please could you try clearing your cache and see if that stops the issue happening?

Hi in response (as this just happened to me again yesterday):

  • It only happens when trying to post a link.
  • It's intermittently. Sometimes I can go for days with zero issues.
  • I have an excellent internet connection, it's on my MacBook with at-home WiFi which I also use for my job (a highly internet-dependent tech job). I don't actually log in on my phone ever.
  • If I go into the post immediately and edit to paste in the link, it works fine.
  • It's only started since I updated Google Chrome browser, IDK if that's relevant info or not.

I cleared my cache a few days ago for other reasons and it's still happening but I am a high-volume user of the internet so it could be that I need to clear it more often. Will try clearing it again today and see if that changes it.

Still happening to me. I have to delete the link and refresh the page to post anything at all when it happens. Then hit "edit" and paste the link in.

Not allowed to post links?

Cache clearing does nothing.

Still happening yesterday.
