I am really disappointed at the lack of update from MNHQ about the deletion or not of posts with MedExpress referral posts.

It's not up to mumsnet to delete codes.

If people want their codes removed then they need to requesting.

Many of us reported our posts with the codes in to ask for deletion and were told not to. The posts are still up and people are understandably concerned they may get in trouble.

I would like to know what’s going on too, I reported my thread and was given the standard message on Wednesday.

This is a customer/provider issue not a MN site issue.

MN cannot be expected to find and remove, or deal with, literally thousands of individual post removals throughout the site within a short time frame……or at all.

Your issue is with Med Express not MN, what was the response from Med Express when you contacted them?

Although I do wish MN would quickly post to say they won’t be doing anything to just close the matter.

Of course it’s a provider issue. But MN have provided a platform for people to share codes and while it’s reasonable that they are realistic about how quickly they can remove them, it’s also incumbent on them to remove that platform. Not only that, but if they care about their user base, it’s good customer service to help them.

WeAllHaveWings · 26/04/2025 11:43

It is not incumbent on them to remove any posts that don’t break MN guidelines. MN posters know there is no deletion option and the rules regarding post deletion.

While it would be nice if they can, it is a hell of a task to locate and delete thousands of posts. They don’t have staff sitting around doing nothing ready to take on such a mammoth task. Waiting a few business days for them to work out what they can and cannot do is not unreasonable. They said they will feedback, the problem is everyone wants answers too quickly. Med Expresses timelines impact on customers may feel like an emergency to the customers but it does not constitute an emergency for MN.

I had hoped we would of had an update by now đŸ˜¬

BeckyAMumsnet · 26/04/2025 14:19

There is a very high volume of code posts - in some cases, individual users posted their codes hundreds of times. Normally, we'd consider that level of posting to be spam. On top of that, many users reported each of these posts individually, which completely overwhelmed our reports inbox.
This isn't sustainable and means we're unable to manage reports properly, which isn't fair to other MNers.

We're currently discussing the quickest way to resolve this. We've already removed a number of posts, but given the volume, it's simply not possible for us to manually delete each one immediately.

From what we understand based on MedExpress’s latest update, sharing codes will result in credit removal, not account closures, as some posters have suggested.

We'll update you again as soon as we can.

I think the update is fair but my personal suggestion would be to completely wipe the promo codes board and the historical thread(s) on the injections board (started before the promo board existed) and if anyone has posted elsewhere when they were previously told not to then that’s on them not MN. Would make your lives easier @BeckyAMumsnetto just wipe things in a blanket way I would think. People who have posted promo codes for places other than MedExpress can repost very easily if they want to.

PenguinChops · 26/04/2025 15:20

Maybe it’s a lesson for all those greedy people out there who just turned into total spammers

People shared on the promo section before the weightloss injection promo thread was even a thing

Not all posters in the promos boards will want their posting history removed. The issue is only with Med Express customers.

Not all posters in the promos boards will want their posting history removed. The issue is only with Med Express customers.

At the moment, the problem is with the ME customers, however they are responding to the regulations and the other pharmacies haven't yet.

Anyway, I realise I'm one of the ME posters, but if I were posting codes from another pharmacy, I would not find it a hardship to have to re-post my code if the board were wiped clean if it meant other people could keep their credits.

The forum is essentially people just spamming codes, there aren't posts of substance which need to be saved for their insight or anything.

(FWIW: other pharmacies will end up having to comply. ME customers were told not to mention the medications by name, and unfortunately it looks like 90% of people just didn't read those guidelines, and I think this is why they're nuking the whole thing. They've allowed the 'affiliate' code people to continue to share, because they/we have had to agree to following those rules specifically and they can track our social media to make sure we are doing it properly. I know there's people upset about this, and maybe they'll find a way to allow non-affiliates to share codes again, but they'd only do it if people would actually follow the rules they've given so that ME doesn't get in trouble)

You are looking at it from a ME customer biased viewpoint, assuming other pharmacies have crossed the line ME has and will take the same approach to resolving the issue. A more customer friendly approach would be to honour accrued credit /discounts but stop codes, they are obviously doing this partly because they have screwed up and need to reduce the massive liability of all the credits customers have accrued. Most other pharmacies don’t do this, they give % discounts on future pens.

You are also assuming other posters won’t mind if their board is nuked which you cannot do for possibly thousands of posters.

Remember all that is happening here is removal of the credits they should never have had. A ME email on the other thread said if they can show credits earned legitimately from friends and family they will review them which hopefully means legitimate credits will be reinstated.

I know other pharmacies are also funding people who are also sharing their codes and naming Mounjaro as the prescription medication that they're promoting, which is why I know they, too, will eventually have to change their promotions as that is the crux of what ME is dealing with now.

I also know how I would feel if the board were nuked and I had to repost my code: I would just repost my code. It wouldn't be arduous, and the board itself was made to keep the spam all to one place. The threads aren't being moved to Classics for saving so that we can keep re-reading them; they're literally just threads full of codes and people naming the medication they're promoting.

Some of us did follow the rules (no naming of prescription medication, no making specific claims, there was a whole list which most people didn't follow) so I disagree with your comment that people should 'never have had' the credits to begin with. Those of us who posted correctly were posting to the conditions which were laid out by ME when they changed them to allow us to post to social media a couple of months ago.

Reddit allows for editing our own posts, it's a shame it isn't possible here because we could all just do this ourselves.

DollyPlastic · 28/04/2025 20:19

I’d be happy to edit my posts

Hello, everyone. We've been in touch with MedExpress, who have kindly extended the time period for your codes to be removed on Mumsnet to 31st May. We are working through your reports. Thank you.

From the MedExpress Team

If you have shared your referral code on Mumsnet, we kindly ask that you contact the platform to request the removal of any posts mentioning your code. We are in conversation with Mumsnet, and understand that removal is a manual process on their side, which may take some time. However, it remains your responsibility to ensure you have contacted them, please ensure you do so asap. Please make sure this is done no later than May 31st.

MatriarchCaz · 29/04/2025 11:16

I have reported one of my posts and asked if all my posts sharing the code please be removed, is that the best way to do it - just report one post and ask for them all to be removed?

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 29/04/2025 11:16

Thank you @BeckyAMumsnet do we need to report our posts again? I reported three of mine already.

BeckyAMumsnet · 29/04/2025 11:55

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 we're working through existing reports but if some are still showing in a few weeks then please report again.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 29/04/2025 11:59

Thank you @BeckyAMumsnet I think all of mine are reported now but will keep and eye out.
