Losing posts on edit in the app

I have twice now tried to edit a post in the app only to have my post disappear.

it doesn't happen every time I use edit, just sometimes.

when I try to go back to the thread it says 'are you sure, you will lose your post' but the post is definitely already gone, the comment box is blank.

after I said yes exit anyway it then crashed (wasn't letting me do anything at all) and I had to close and reopen the app to do anything else.

Sorry to hear you've lost some posts - that sounds very frustrating.

Can we ask a few questions to get to the bottom of this -

1. Are you using iOS or Android and which device (i.e. iPhone 12 Max)
2. Which version of the app you're using (you can find this by opening the app, selecting the profile menu in the top right hand corner. The app version will be at the bottom of that menu)
3. Could you please let us know if you've always had this issue or if it only started recently. If it was recently, do you have a rough idea of when it started?
4. Would you be able to share a screen recording of the issue with us via email?

iOS 18.3.2 iPhone 14

App version 45.0.12

Started soon after the app update. Specifically it happens when I use the post preview, spot a typo, and go back to correct it. If it happens again I will try to screenshot.

I have a similar problem.

Using the app on both iPhone and iPad.

If I’m typing a reply, sometimes I want to scroll up to reread some of the posts that I am replying to. It’s easier to do this if I minimise the keyboard. But if I do, then the reply I am writing gets minimised, and there is no way to get back into it to continue writing it. I can see the first line of my reply, but I can’t click on it to continue editing it. Usually when you minimise an iPad/iphone keyboard, if you click back where you were typing, it reopens the keyboard and you can carry on.

But not on your new apps. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve lost a reply like that and just thought sod it, I can’t be arsed typing it all out again.

We're still not able to recreate this issue at our end, unfortunately but we're really keen to get to the bottom of it. Could we ask you to take a screen recording of the issue and send it to us at [email protected]? This should help us masssssively with recreating it and resolving.

@RockaLock Can we also ask if you are minimising the keyboard on your iPad using a button that is usually at the bottom right hand side of your keyboard? It has a little keyboard picture on it. We aren't sure but we think that might be part of the issue and it would be great to rule it in or out. Thanks!

I’ve had a problem losing a post when editing at preview stage when it’s been a quote
post. It’s happened to me a couple of times.

We're working on a fix for this now. In the meantime, it looks like the problem is that button we described - the keyboard icon bottom right. If you could not use that but instead use the little tab at the top of the reply box to drag the reply closed, that should be a good workaround until the keyboard button bug is fixed.
