Aviva video ad playing itself

There’s an Aviva wealth video ad that has started to play all by itself while I’m browsing MN. Most of the time it’s a little thumbnail pic at the top but then every so often the video opens and plays. I haven’t clicked on the thumbnail or even hovered over it.

This is really off putting as it makes it very obvious I’m on MN and if I’m trying to be quiet (eg partner is in bed or watching TV) it is loud and interrupts. It’s making me not want to use MN at all and I am here a lot

Just me? Is there a fix?

This shouldn't be happening and we're sorry for the inconvenience! Please can you let us know what device and browser you're using, and can you get a screenshot of the advert for us? It would also be really helpful if you clicked the advert and gave us the URL to where it takes you.

Thanks - it’s happening on iphone (12 I think), safari. Not happened so much today, will try to screenshot and click through if it happens again. Good to know it isn’t the new normal !!

Hi there @Igotjelly. Is the video 'unmuted' by default for you too? ie, is it playing out loud automatically?

Again, if it's possible to send us a url when you click on the ad, or better still a screen video if you can catch it happening, that would be brilliant. Thank you.

Seems better today but yes it's playing sound too. Next time it pops up I'll try and grab a URL.
