Can't delete draft

Please can someone help me delete a draft, it won't let me remove the @ tagged user, which I've now tagged 4 times as I've tried to delete it. It appears back spacing doesn't work. I'm online, not the app, on my phone. Thank you.

Hi @RedWineIsFine - has your message actually been posted or is it still stuck in your Draft box? If it's appeared on the thread just hit the Report button on the post so we can remove it for you.

If you refresh the page it reloads without the tag. MNHQ know it's a problem but can't fix it because it's too complicated. Or at least, that's what I was told when I raised it.

I've managed to eventually do it, repeatedly selecting the name until eventually it showed a 'cut' option. It took a good half hour! Refreshing didn't do anything and I was resigned to never being able to post on the thread again! I miss comments disappearing when you leave the thread.

I have the exact problem. Have refreshed several times and it doesn't work and won't let me cut. How can you not be able to delete something? I can't post either as it says the tag doesn't exist as it has a typo. Dumb system..

Morning, everyone. We've been trying to replicate this with no luck here, so we're still not sure what's causing this.

Can we ask you all to let us know what device and browser you are using (or whether you are on the app and which one)? Also, if anyone is able to send us a screen recording of this happening at [email protected] that would be incredibly helpful as we might be able to see how it's happening then.

Also @CelesteCunningham can we ask if you're experiencing this problem when using the Mumsnet emojis at the reply box or if this is emojis from your own device?

@HebeMumsnet it was the MN emojis in the reply box (the old-style ones on the MN tab). Just tried to recreate the error in this post but the emoji deleted just fine.

The tags not deleting has been a problem for at least a year, I've seen posts about it before!

And refreshing doesn't work to get rid of the tag! That tag has survived me refreshing 3 times, leaving the page for active convos then returning via the back button and it's still blooming there ...

@HebeMumsnet , just happened again on BIWI's thread on Site Stuff. Hit instead of and it won't delete. I went ahead and posted my reply, you'll see what I mean. Tried deleting, highlighting and deleting, highlighting and cutting. No joy.

It is happening to me as well. I have to clear all browsing history otherwise I can't reply.

So if I put @.a wrong user name. I can not progress from the page as it says as the bottom 'username does not exist ' but then I can't delete it either.

@DawnMumsnet @HebeMumsnet @LilyMumsnet the problem has worsened. Now, refreshing the page, reloading Mumsnet, and even shutting down and opening Chrome again doesn't clear the reply box. I expect that if we went as far as to clear the cache and cookies from Chrome it would work, but who wants to have to do that because they used a wrong @ tag??

I'm still having the issue, but it is intermittent.

When it happens I'm also finding that when I click to the next page it takes me to the bottom of the thread and the last post rather than the top of the next page

@Lougle I resolved it by logging out and in again. Make sure you have your password to hand if you normally stay permanently logged in so you don't get locked out.

Hi @amoreoamicizia we're sorry this issue has been causing you problems today. We're still working on a fix for this and will hopefully have an update for you next week.

In the meantime we're glad that logging out and in again has resolved the problem for you. Another Mumsnetter has said that typing random text either side of the @ means it can then be highlighted and deleted, so that's also worth trying.

We're sorry again for the frustration that this issue has been causing.
