Disability hate on MN

Hi MNHQ

Since Sunak’s announcement on disability benefits, there has been a big increase on MN in hostility towards people who receive then.

The abuse, hate and outright lies (my neighbour’s son’s cousin’s wife climbs Mount Everest but gets PIP etc) being spewed on MN towards disabled people, a group with protected characteristics, has been dreadful and very distressing for disabled people and their loved ones to read,

Please can you do something?

But People With Disabilities Just Need To Stop Setting Limitations on Themselves.

As with other forms of bigotry, it makes very little sense.

There was absolutely no sarcasm in my response of ‘Understood’ - I was merely acknowledging his/her reply to my previous question, no more, no less.

I feel as though the poster with a "different opinion" has derailed the thread.
It's a shame, we shouldn't let it happen.

I am not sure to whom you refer, nor how they have expressed a ‘different opinion’.

From my side, I intend to only post in line with the thread topic, as requested (providing everyone else does, of course!) My knowledge of cookery chiefly extends to a microwave….😁

Morning @PandoraSocks (and others). Thanks for flagging this again. Could you report any of those threads you mention? We'll happily have a look behind the scenes and make sure they're above board.

You might want to take a look if doubtful that things are ‘orchestrated’ Matthew Goodwin ( and other prominent right wing influencers ) were being paid up to £10,000 a month regularly to speak and basically ‘agitate’ —-all funded through Victor orbans gvt and Hungary - no doubt originated from Russia , but using Hungary to get round rules. There are lots of features about this if you google it , all under the disguise of what initially looks like a university but is actually just a right wing agitation ‘think tank’ I’m not saying people can’t have these views , but do at least be up front that you are being very healthily paid to push these views so have a very big motivator to keep it going - absolutely rife in the USA too . Hence why you have all these well dressed clean cut glam looking people pushing that agenda-

Thanks Kelly, I agree with others that it's getting worse with people repeatedly stating that disability benefits are easy to get, despite being told otherwise, and inferring that those in receipt are therefore on the make. It does feel like there is a concerted attempt to influence and shift public opinion against disabled people.

Hi Kelly. Thanks for responding. A few of the threads have run their course now and mnhq must be aware of the ones still running as there have been deleted posts etc.

With the greatest respect, I have found mnhq rarely delete benefit bashing threads so I don't bother reporting them now.

As an example, this is one of at least two threads on this particular issue. Mnhq were aware of it, but it was allowed to keep going.
