Christmas board - threads showing really large and open in new window

Hope I'm explaining this properly. When I click on a board, for instance 'Chat' all the threads are shown in a list with the number of replies to the right of it. I just click on the thread I'm interested in and it opens on the same screen.

But when I click onto the 'Christmas' board, all the threads show as large individual sections, with an overview of the OP and when I click on one, it opens in a new window.

Is this happening to anyone else? Is it deliberate? (because if it is I don't like it!!)

There was a post about this sometime ago ...MNHQ ...know it is not popular....but here we still are !!

I thought it was a glitch. Why make it hard to scroll and read?

Ohhhh ...I have managed to change it !!

In the top right hand corner , 5herw was an arrow that I clicked.
And choose compact view ...
And it shrunk it all back to normal 😀

Seems to revert back to big though when you next open it !

I've just changed my talk settings to always be in compact mode as it was starting to really annoy me on Telly Addicts!

We were initially testing it in these topics - Property/DIY, Telly Addicts, The Doghouse, Food/Recipes, Housekeeping and Home decoration - but we've now expanded it to include the Christmas topic. This change will only be on mobile and desktop - OP view is currently not available in the apps.

From initial feedback, you told us that you'd like to be able to switch between OP and Classic view. You'll still be able to do this by using the icon on the page, but you can also choose a default view in your Talk settings.
