Problem reading private messages on the phone

I can access private messages OK on my Windows laptop. However, on my Android phone when I go in to private messages I see the start of the message but when I click on it to read the whole message I get the Error 500 message. I.e., "our server is having a moment and we are making it a strong cup of tea!"

It must be a long cup of tea because this has been going on for at least a week. I have Android version 9 on a Huawei phone.

Hi @JulesJules - we're sorry you're also having this problem. Are you also able to confirm the browser you're using and also please try clearing your cache too to see if this makes a difference.

Google? No idea about the cache, but it's a brand new phone. I can't see where the pms are even? Thought it was another (absent) feature of the app 😃

Just to clarify I am not using the app on my phone. I use Firefox browser and access mumsnet through that.

I cleared the cache for Firefox but this makes no difference.

And irritating quirk I find is that when I click on the message to read it in full, the cursor moves to the box for me to type a reply. This then causes the keyboard part of the display to open and the combination of that, the reply box and any banners at the top of the screen, take up all the screen space on my phone so I can't see the actual message. If I close the keyboard it immediately seems to reopen as I can't get the cursor out of the reply box. Then after a few attempts I get the Error 500 message

Hmm. Tried this a few times now and it looks like this is affected by the advertisement at the top of the page.

When I first open up the page there is just a placeholder that says ADVERTISEMENT. It can take several seconds on my phone for this to load and the advertisement to appear.

If I wait and don't click anything until everything is loaded on to the page then it behaves. However, if I try to open a message before all the adverts are fully loaded that seems to be when I get the odd behaviour and the error message.

Irritating. Just as well I don't get many PMs.

We think it'd be really useful for us if we were able to see this happening. If possible, please could you email a screen recording to [email protected] so we can try and replicate?
