Far too early to be reading about fleshlights

@123ZYX it's not very intuitive on iPhone app. It's not in settings! It's in "mymumsnet" then scroll to bottom and click for additional settings

Theos · 18/02/2023 08:18

I find lots of topics really really boring so I just hide them. I don’t go onto them posting recipes for fuck’s sake.

WiIson · 18/02/2023 08:21

It's grim. I never knew that existed. I suppose it generates more traffic being in active. But I didn't want to read about flesh lights first thing in the morning. Or even know about the existence of them.

MokaEfti · 18/02/2023 08:21

I've successfully hidden the zit people - thanks posters who explained how! 💐 Sorry for derail

FordCreek · 18/02/2023 08:23

Thanks to the PP who posted how to hide threads from the app!

the sex topic titles are grim and I don’t want to see them in active threads either esp as the extremely cringeworthy shreks ear vibrator ads are showing too Hmm

RobinGood · 18/02/2023 08:23

Sporners corner is totally different, not my bag but they are not fetishists wanking over it (like most of the threads in Sex now).

Lol that's ok, I've hidden them both now

Phew thanks, think I've managed to hide it now. Completely inappropriate for it to be in active threads in the first place

isthewashingdryyet · 18/02/2023 08:25

Hidden by me,thanks for this how to thread

It is fairly easy to accomplish. No idea why people can’t just hide it. There are so many threads about it.

I don’t read it myself, never did. Don’t look in recipes either 🤷🏼‍♀️

123ZYX · 18/02/2023 08:35

Thank you, everyone who guided me through accessing the hidden topics option. Got there eventually!

DysonBison · 18/02/2023 08:37

I've hidden it too. I don't have a problem with a Sex topic - I just don't want to have questions about rimming and squirting alongside questions about toddler management and sexual harassment at work. And I'd imagine posters with genuine questions, about which they're sensitive and need advice, don't need the rubber-necking from curious Active browsers.

please don't tell me rubbernecking is a new internet kink

Thank you!!! I've been trying to figure that out for days!! Have hidden it now too!

NotBasically · 18/02/2023 08:47

@mnhq why are you ignoring people's requests to have the sex topic hidden?

Galadriel90 · 18/02/2023 08:49

Don't lump sporners corner in with the sex weirdos! I love a bit of sporn Grin

TreehousePine · 18/02/2023 08:54

I agree, it's changed the tone of the site 🤮. Thanks to PP re. the tips on how to hide topics.

InFiveMins · 18/02/2023 09:15

It really needs to be taken out of active. The majority of posters don't want to see it.

BIWI · 18/02/2023 09:24

I didn't like the idea of a sex topic when it was introduced, but at least it didn't appear in Active.

Funny how it suddenly did start to appear in Active when Mumsnet and their affiliated partner launched their vibrator, isn't it? Hmm

But following a comment on one thread by a bloke, clearly a regular in the sex topic, I went and had a look. If people want to chat about sex and sex-related issues, fair enough. As PP have said, there are lots of places to don't go and read/post. But there's a sex chat, where posters are advertising their 'needs' to others - asking for PMs, presumably to meet up for sex.

I don't feel that's really appropriate - using @MNHQ's own words, I would say that that's NITS.

BIWI · 18/02/2023 09:25

... anyway, I've hidden it now, so I don't have to see any of the titles in Active.

ArcticSkewer · 18/02/2023 09:28

Thank God some of you are finally learning basic IT skills.

I agree, hide it again, it's really irritating that it's now being spammed.

Aurorabored · 18/02/2023 09:29

Get to fuck.

@mnhq why are you ignoring people's requests to have the sex topic hidden?

Because they’ve developed a vibrator basically.

Then you would hate the anal thread I'm following this morning, whilst drinking my tea and trying not to choke from laughing 😂😂

Yes I woke up to this ok my Active this morning. I had to read the train post twice - and the soup recipe post, I still haven't worked out if it's innuendo that I'm not getting ..... is it?

ArcticSkewer · 18/02/2023 10:23

It wasn't meant as innuendo, (although I loathe leek and potato soup for its consistency, I don't think that's what the poster had in mind). It's just a childish response to a topic a poster could have just hidden.
