Far too early to be reading about fleshlights

It's so grim I'm finding, I clicked on it yomtry and hide it and don't know how, it also makes the listing of topics look bizarre @mnhq with 'what do you look for kids tv' in the topic of 'sex' 🤔 and the post then below it!!

After days of this I logged into the full site yesterday and changed my preferences. I think that's the only way.

I'd no desire to be confronted by rimming chat when I was scrolling in my downtime Confused

ShellySmitt · 18/02/2023 07:37

Weirds me out that creepy blokes come on a site called Mumsnet to talk about sex, and the amount of women who entertain them 🤢

Then you would hate the anal thread I'm following this morning, whilst drinking my tea and trying not to choke from laughing 😂😂

ShellySmitt · 18/02/2023 07:41

Maybe a bit later in the day, I haven't had breakfast yet

Ah, just done this. Thank you!

Same here. I've tried to hide it but can't.

I'll have to go in via the full site.

Annoying.

Did Mumsnet ask us whether we wanted this subject in active? 😡

MokaEfti · 18/02/2023 07:45

So glad you can block topics - I didn't realise. Can't wait to block Sporner Corner - the thread titles are revolting and I hate seeing them. I've never dared open one of those threads!

I never see Sex topic however, perhaps I managed to block that at some point and forgot about it.

ShellySmitt · 18/02/2023 07:45

They really don't know their audience, do they

I've seen the topic, but never read any threads. What does it even mean?

Surely you should have the function in the app to block topics? I can't remember my password and it's a fucking faff to reset it so I just want to block it from the app

ShellySmitt · 18/02/2023 07:51

@AceofPentacles I don't think there is :(

FavouriteDogMug · 18/02/2023 07:54

Do not click on Sporner Corner while eating your breakfast!

MokaEfti · 18/02/2023 07:56

@ShellySmitt it's about people with fetishes about squeezing their spots 🤮

ShellySmitt · 18/02/2023 07:56

Oh fgs 🤦‍♀️

I’ve blocked it on the app. You have to go into settings and then talk settings and there’s a manage hidden topics bit.

I think Mumsnet have done the wrong thing allowing a sex board. Completely changes the tone and nature of the site.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 18/02/2023 08:02

Ugh, yes. I don't want to see this stuff in Active. It completely changes the tone of the place. Bad decision by Mumsnet.

ShellySmitt · 18/02/2023 08:02

Agreed

Where is the talk settings? When I go to settings in the app I just get the options in the picture. I'm using the iPad app - is that the difference?

Xrays · 18/02/2023 08:04

What I find hard to understand is that Mumsnet will remove a topic in the general forum if they feel it will attract perverts or trolls - for example, something about a teenager having sex and a parent wanting advice, or a seemingly harmless thread about period pants, and yet they will allow a thread about flashlights and rimming to stand in the sex topic. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

I’m using my iPhone. I go into settings and then talk settings and then scroll down to manage hidden topics.

I can’t see an issue with it. I think it’s useful.

bananamilkyum · 18/02/2023 08:09

@EllieRosesMammy same

manicthursday · 18/02/2023 08:09

3 lines at top right. My mumsnet. Open additional settings (may need password at this point as needs to be logged in and opens via website) scroll down. Hidden topic at bottom.

I learned this not long ago for the royal family topic and hid sex topic yesterday.

Like others I am far from prudish and that topic has its place but I don't want it popping up alongside my usual light browsing. Get it hidden again Mumsnet.

bananamilkyum · 18/02/2023 08:12

@EllieRosesMammy the train story I couldn't breathe laughing
