Page 2 | Have some people's hidden topics become unhidden?

I keep seeing loads of threads under the 'Sex' topic after forgetting all about it. I'm sure I blocked it --as it was just full of posts by vaguely creepy sounding blokes talking about "their lady".-- Have topics been accidentally unhidden?

Didn't you have to be a member for a while or have made a certain number of posts before you can post in there? I wonder if that's changed

I take it that the sex chat is staying in active now then?

Please can someone tell me how to hide it in the app because I don't have access to a desktop or laptop. When I try to access mumsnet via the website on my phone, it just pings me to the app.

It's really putting me off using the site as I have quite a bit of trauma around sex and some of the topics that I am coming across I active.

You can't seem to hide a topic anymore but I don't use the app on my phone, just the desktop site. So I'm just hiding threads as they appear. Who knew it was still so active with all those sleazy blokes?

Hi @LilyMumsnet

The sex chat thread appearing in active is suddenly generating lots of posts from people who would rather not see it in the first place, and feel compelled to comment in a way that derails from the original intent of the threads.

I agree that the sex chat thread is not for everyone, and those in there that are not "sleazy blokes" or "looking for a pick up" do give and get some useful advice from like minded males and females.

Rather than having to report such posts, and lets be honest, to avoid having people being upset by some of the thread titles from the sex chat thread appearing in active (and as a by-product not subsequently advertising it further to those are there for a cheap thrill), is it possible to revert back to the sex chat topic being hidden from active/trending please?

I am sure people can find it if they need to, and those already there can continue discussions with those who want to be there.

So it's been added to active where it used to be hidden by default, the day before MN launch their vibrator, and now if you don't want to see topics from the sex boards appearing you have to go in manually and change that - do I have that right?

And screw people who have been sexually assaulted who don't want that unilaterally decided for them? I hope @MNHQ are going to be as on it with the trigger warnings for titles as they are on all the other boards.

But hey, if you can flog a few vibrators off the back of it then that's great eh?

I’m an occasional poster on the sex topic (as well as more mainstream threads) and I don’t want this in my ‘active’ feed whilst I’m fiddling with my phone on the bus/ in waiting rooms / at DMs house.

Much prefer the previous arrangement where you had to go looking for it, aptly enough.

Hi all - we periodically review boards that are excluded. The initial concern when we launched the Sex board was that, in Active, it might encourage trolls. Though to be frank we don't think they would be deterred either way. It's a popular area of the site but we recognise that's not the case for everyone. We'll continue to monitor the situation.

Also the topic can be hidden, takes 30 seconds

It might not bother you but I do not want to read titles like that in active.

All anyone can suggest is finding a way to use a browser (if you have internet you can and obviously you do) log in there and hide the topic.
I did it with climate change I was gutted to see it back but I've hidden it again and that's the end of that

Nor will many others. And you can't do it from the app. It's a very poor show.
