Page freezing/ Edge, only this site affected

This only happens on MN.
Using Edge on W10 laptop.
I am reading a thread, it is too long to finish so I leave the page open for when I return.
I return and the page just stays solidly in place, will not scroll. I have to refresh, then I get a page with options to wait or leave. I select leave because wait does nothing but wait and wait and wait. It then lets me refresh and allows me back to the page.
I changed a setting on Edge and it was OK, then there was an update and now it is doing it again.
I am getting tired of it now, as I said above it is only on this site.

I’m getting the same on threads with over 500 posts, but I’m on safari. The scrolling seems to stick on the adverts which are just blank

Yep, I get the same thing on long pages if I've left the tab open in Edge for a while - both Mac and Windows desktops. The page goes completely blank for me. Only happens on this site.

Me too, Chrome on a laptop.

In addition, the site seems very sluggish. I was replying to a thread this morning, and I could actually see the delay as letters appeared one at a time.

I get this on the app on my phone. Drives me nuts.

I've had this since the big change a couple of months ago. The only answer from MN was to go to a page view and I refuse so can't read threads over a few hundred posts.

Just happened again, 45 posts on thread DH is a painter decorator, and it stuck at about 5.51 pm.

MN browsing currently looks like this around 20% of the time.

Sorry the threads are still doing this for some of you. We're finding that a lot of users who have their posts per page set to 1000 are experiencing this on long threads. We know it's not ideal, but while we hopefully fix this, if you could try setting them to 100 or fewer posts per page, that seems to be a good workaround.

We know some of you are already on it, but if not, users are finding Chrome most successful at avoiding this.

Hopefully one or other or both of those changes should make things a bit less painful in the short term.

I changed from Chrome a while back because something else wasn't working.
When will this end I wonder...

My page is set at 25 messages, always has been 😫

I have consistent glitches accessing MN on Edge. Slow, freezes, crashes (sometimes crashes Edge in its entirety, not just the MN tab).

It's been rather bad this morning

We think clearing your cache will resolve any issues with freezing.

Lily, your message reminds me of the 20 or so years on EBay, every time the site broke they would tell you to clear your cookies. It never worked on there. I gave up in the end until tech had fixed the issue. Please don't let MN be the same, I can't spend the rest of my life clearing a cache for nothing 😂

Edge has updated itself, when I have plucked up the courage to click on it and let the update loose I will see what happens...
