Long threads unreadable on iPhone

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 08/09/2022 08:14

Once a thread gets past about 700 posts I just can't read it on my iPhone. It tries to re load repeatedly (every time the ads refresh I think?), and then safari just gives up and displays 'a problem repeatedly occurred with <thread name>'

argh, it's soooo frustrating

Long threads perform dreadfully on my Chrome book too, but I can generally muddle through on there

Hi @BernardBlacksWineIcelolly sorry about that, how frustrating. Could you please share the URL of the page where this is happening? If you have a screen shot that would also be helpful. Please also let us know which version of Safari you are using if possible.

goi from ‘Threads I’m on’ takes me to the bottom of the thread, and then when I scroll up to find the last post I read, this happens

Very much still happening

these are the threads that are currently making me want to rip a telephone directory in half:

Hi @BernardBlacksWineIcelolly ,

We've had a look at those threads. They are all quite hefty (all around 700+ posts) so it might be that you need to set your threads to display only 25 or 50 threads per page, rather than all in one scrollable page. We know that's a bit of a PITA but it does seem to make those longer threads easier for users to navigate without the threads crashing.

Hope that helps. Do give us a yell if you need any help changing that in customisation.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 14/09/2022 11:15

thanks hebe

but then if a thread goes poof I don't get to finish reading what was written up to the point MNHQ deleted it, so that's why I don't use that setting

ho hum

thank you for coming back to me
