Threads closing

I'm still having problems on the android app whereby I'm reading a thread and it closes for some unknown reason.

Sometimes when it has done this I then cannot find the thread for love nor money. Not sure if they have been deleted.

It started doing it on threads with lots of replies but is now doing it on threads with only a handful of replies.

What is going on?

Me too. Plus I got an email saying I have a message, but when I click on the link to see it, it just opens the app on the topics page.

same here, I was in the middle of reading an interesting thread and it disappeared and I can't find the topic anywhere.

Can you give us any details about the threads you were viewing which seem to have disappeared? We'll happily take a look into what's happened to them. You can either post the details here or mail us at [email protected]

Just for the record, we have deleted a number of threads this evening as we've had a prolific troll doing the rounds. We do always post on a thread to say that we'll be deleting it, but you may not have seen our posts - and once the thread has been zapped it will no longer appear in the list of Active Conversations. If the thread's in your Watched Threads list or I'm On list, though, you should be able to view our deletion message.

@AntlerRose , @Snugglemonkey and @neilyoungismyhero - can we please check, are you all also using the Android app?

That's interesting. I've had the same but assumed it was my phone being a Huawei. It sort of jumps a page, goes white then the app closes. No pattern to which threads.

That's the problem, I can never remember what I was reading 😀 the last one was how to go about reducing the amount of washing a poster was doing.

I need to make more of a note what the threads were called. There was definitely one that kept closing but I could get back into it the following day and pick up where I left off. Most of the problems seem to occur later in the evening.

As I said I will keep a note.

I've had problems as listed above on android app.

Threads closing whilst reading them, email links taking me to general message board instead of specific threads and no option to read all from OP.

Yes, using the android app. It's happened a few times to me now. Also can't remember what I was looking at!

This is happening to me too but only on one long running thread about The Archers. It makes mumsnet crash entirely on my android app.

The good news is, we think we can fix it. It won't be immediate but we're hoping within a week or so.

Thank you for reporting this issue. We are still investigating this bug and we are finding it difficult to replicate. If anyone can repeatedly cause it to crash it would be really helpful if you can send us the thread that caused it, or what action you were trying to perform that caused it.

Alternatively, a screen recording would also be really helpful!

We're still looking into the issues you're having with the app crashing on android, and we really appreciate your patience!

We believe it's caused by longer threads, but we haven't yet been able to recreate the crashes on our side. Would you all be able to share which device you're accessing the app on as well as the Android version you currently have downloaded? You should be able to find this in your device settings.

If you can also recall any actions you took before the app crashed, that would be incredibly helpful!
