Hi OP

Can we check what device and browser you're using to access the site?

UneasyMe · 01/09/2022 11:24

iPhone, Safari

If you follow the instructions below the consent pop up should stop appearing once you've reselected your preferences.

iPhone & iPad
Navigate to your settings
Click on ‘Safari’
Scroll to the bottom and choose ‘Advanced’
Click on ‘Website Data’
Type ‘Mumsnet' into the search box
Swipe left on ‘Mumsnet’ and choose ‘Delete’

UneasyMe · 01/09/2022 11:50

That worked - thank you

I'm on an android phone, and I'm scrolling down on the pop up message but there's no manage consent button, or accept and close like there is on a desktop, and no option to close the pop up and I can't click on anything else. When I try and get to my settings refreshing the page, up comes the blummin pop up and stops me clicking on anything!

I've had to download the app so I can write this!

Can it please get sorted, I'd rather stay on the website instead of the app, but stuck in pop up hell!!

Ramblingnamechanger · 02/09/2022 10:30

Yes I have same problem, will have a look for solution, but surely this could be managed by MN?

Mydoghealsmyheart · 02/09/2022 11:05

I’ve followed the instructions but it hasn’t worked. Can’t MN resolve it for everyone?

Ramblingnamechanger · 02/09/2022 11:40

It worked for me but I still think as it wasn’t happening before, MN should fix it.

DawnMumsnet · 02/09/2022 11:54

Hi @MummBRaaarrrTheEverLeaking - we're sorry you're having problems with this pop-up. Could you please let us know which browser you're using?

It would also help enormously if you could grab a screenshot - you can either post it here or send it to us at [email protected]

Thanks in advance. We'll try to get this sorted for you as soon as we can.

DawnMumsnet · 02/09/2022 11:59

@Mydoghealsmyheart - if you can let us know which device, which browser and which version of the site you're using we'll try to help. Thank you.

@Ramblingnamechanger - we're glad it's worked for you. We posted this thread on Wednesday to explain that we're updating our cookie consent tool. Hopefully we'll have things sorted for everyone else very soon!

Exactly the same with me.
I normally use duckduckgo, I really dislike the android app 😞

Hi all - thanks for the info. We're aware of a number of users finding this issue with Duck Duck Go and hope to have it sorted very soon.

Could you also let us know what happens when you scroll on the page? Does this make any difference to the consent box?

I use duckduckgo.

When I scroll up and down the page the consent box just sits there in the middle of the page while the regular Mumsnet page goes up and down.

I can't click on anything in the consent box or anything on the regular Mumsnet page.

MummBRaaarrrTheEverLeaking · 08/09/2022 00:42

I too use duckduckgo. This is what I did in the end, top right 3 dots on the MN page in duckduckgo browser (this is on my mobile), disable privacy protection. Then I was able to see the manage data consent button at the bottom of the pop up (wasn't able to before), could make my data privacy selections, exit that, then click back on the dots to enable privacy protection afterwards, and voila! 😊

Datun · 08/09/2022 08:21

I'm getting this using an iPhone 13 and chrome. Are there similar instructions for that?

It's happening every single time I click anything!

LivMumsnet · 08/09/2022 09:16

Hi there, @Datun - sorry to hear this. We're taking a look now and will get back to you as soon as we can.

@MummBRaaarrrTheEverLeaking - thanks for the helpful tips. Smile

Same here, iPhone and chrome!

LivMumsnet · 08/09/2022 09:36

@Datun and @WorriedMillie - here are the instructions for iPhone/iPad and Chrome.

Clear all cookies

On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app
At the bottom right, tap More â‹® > Settings
Tap Privacy > Clear Browsing Data.
Tick Cookies, Site Data. Untick the other items.
Tap Clear Browsing Data > Clear Browsing Data.
Tap Done

Hope that helps but give us a shout if you're still having issues. Smile

LivMumsnet · 08/09/2022 09:40

Oh, and also...it's worth updating your browser to the latest version as we think that may also be a contributing factor.

I've done that, still having issues.

Although, the instructions weren't right for me? If I follow your instructions and go to settings, then privacy, there is no 'clear browsing data' option.

I just went onto the three dots at the bottom of the page and cleared my browsing data on that. I still ticked cookies and site data. And cleared them.

But I'm still having the consent message.

Datun · 08/09/2022 12:02

Strike that!

It did come up a couple of times, but now it's stopped.

Fingers crossed...
