No, I don't, but I'm repeatedly getting a dialogue box with this message.

Safari on a MacBook running macOS Monterey.

HI @WitchWithoutChips thanks for flagging this and for providing the screenshot. We're looking into this now and will be back with an update as soon as we can.

In the meantime, please can you let us know when this started happening? And does it pop up on every thread you open?

Thanks in advance.

RainydaysandFridays · 12/07/2022 13:30

I’m getting a similar message on most pages but asking if I want to download specific file? Think I attached a screenshot.

I've been getting the same on my MacBook for the last couple of days. It's not on every thread but has popped up a good few times over the last 48 hours.

Hello everyone - thanks so much for the screenshots and info. The pop up you're seeing is caused by an ad on the page and right now, we're trying to identify which ad it is. In the meantime, clearing your cache might stop it. If you need help doing this, please let us know what browser you're using and we'll take you through the steps.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 14/07/2022 15:02

If you're experiencing this on Safari, could you please let us know which version you're using as we're trying to replicate it? Thank you. 🙏

Beetr00t · 14/07/2022 22:39

Happened to me on every thread on my MacBook on safari earlier, I’ve switched to my iPad and it’s still happening. How do I find out the version I’m using.?

Is it the cellular goods one, that is in each of the screenshots above?

TheIsaacs · 14/07/2022 22:50

Also getting this most of the time. On Safari too, iOS 15.5

I’m getting this too, with the same advert.

ribbonola · 15/07/2022 03:23

Yes it's definitely related to that stupid Cellular Goods advert for me too

PeppaPigIsBacon · 15/07/2022 08:14

This is happening on practically every thread for me now. Safari, IOS15.4.1

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 15/07/2022 12:22

Hello everyone - thanks for all the v helpful info. This will be fixed today - I'll keep you updated.

DwightShrutesgirlfriend · 15/07/2022 23:34

I stupidly pressed "allow' and now keep getting text boxes downloaded to my mac. Can you tell me how to stop this please?

NoMichaelNo · 16/07/2022 10:15

It still hasn’t been fixed.

I would imagine you need to run an anti virus programme to get it off.

I blocked MN from being able to download anything on safari and it’s still happening for me (admittedly am not the most able person with a Mac).

it’s still happening though. With the same Cellular Goods advert.

We're so sorry it's taking us longer than expected to resolve this issue. We're really sorry for the inconvenience this is causing and we'll be back with an update just as soon as we can.

JoMumsnet · 18/07/2022 15:03

Hi again, and thanks for your patience. There are a couple of other threads asking about this issue. Here's HebeMumsnet's message from those threads:

'Thanks for the further information. It's all helped us in tracking down the problem and we hope to have it sorted very soon.

Just to reassure you, the issue you are experiencing is not malware or a threat to your system. This is happening due to an ad being coded incorrectly by an advertiser and we are investigating with all of our ad partners to identify who is delivering this ad and will then be taking strict measures, such as banning the advertiser.

Please note, this issue is not specific to Mumsnet and will happen on other websites because the pop up is being served by the browser misunderstanding the creative due to the incorrect implementation, so it may be something you see elsewhere, too.

As soon as we have tracked it down and got rid of it we'll update here and on the other thread, too.'

IGotItInTheSales · 18/07/2022 15:23

It's never going to stop

Been happening weeks and weeks

Maybe get rid of the Ads? Problem solved..

HebeMumsnet · 20/07/2022 11:20

Morning!

Some good news: we have spoken to the advertiser concerned directly and now have confirmation they have paused all activity on Mumsnet so this should no longer be a problem. It's possible you may need to clear your cache so if you do spot this problem again, do try that first.

Of course, if there are any further issues after that, please do let us know here but hopefully the issue is sorted now.

Thanks again for your patience while we found a solution. Flowers
