If I spend more than 1 minute writing a post, the site crashes and I get this message. It is extremely frustrating. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I haven't had that message but have had other Gateway messages.

SpinMeARiver · 15/06/2022 20:15

Yes I have.

Very frustrating.

gamerchick · 15/06/2022 20:16

I get that. It's from your phone. Not sure what the out of memory thing means though.

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 15/06/2022 20:48

Its only started happening the past couple of weeks, so I don't think its my laptop, started since the site changed.

It’s a bag of shite these days.

KimMumsnet · 16/06/2022 10:23

Hi, all. Thanks for the screenshots.
Can we ask which devices you're using when this happens, and whether you're on the app, mobile or desktop site?
If you can let us known which browser you're using, too (if relevant), that would be helpful.

Maverickess · 16/06/2022 10:26

Yeah I've had it a few times too, I'm on mobile/mobile site and I am using Chrome.

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 16/06/2022 14:25

Hi, I'm on a windows laptop using Chrome, its definitely been an occurrence since the site changes, never happened before.

I've had the same thing a few times using chrome on a Windows laptop.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 19/06/2022 22:50

Is there any fix for this yet?

I've been getting this the last few days, only with Mumsnet, no other sites. I'm using the desktop site on my laptop and using Chrome. My laptop is pretty decent, up to date. I thought it might be because I hadn't bothered changing to Windows 11 yet so I updated but it's still doing it.

Needless to say my laptop ISN'T out of memory, and it seems to be a MN issue only. It is REAAAAAAALLLY pissing me off now. Im half expecting it to do it as i@m typing THIS message!!

Jalisco · 22/06/2022 07:11

I'm getting this constantly on a desktop using Chrome, and it is only on MN. Very annoying.

TheHighStreetsAreDying · 22/06/2022 11:00

I'm also getting the 'out of memory' message, and have been for a week or so. I use both Chrome on my laptop, and the chrome browser on my Android tablet. And, as @Jalisco says, it's only on MN and it's really very annoying!

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 22/06/2022 11:08

Hi everyone - sorry, we know this is really annoying. Could you try using the site in a private/incognito mode, please? If you're not experiencing the same problem then it's likely to be a cache issue. To fix this you'll have to delete all the data from your browser, here are instructions on how to do that.

Doing this will clear all the data from other websites you use on that browser too, so it might not be the best option for you (especially if you're on an impressive Wordle streak). You can, however, clear the cookies for Mumsnet only. Please see this site for instructions.

If the above doesn't work, please let us know.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 22/06/2022 12:25

Oh - and please also check that you're using the most up-to-date version of your browser. I'm using Chrome and while it usually automatically updates, there was an update available when I checked my settings. More info on this website

I just came on here to mention this. It's not just frustrating to be writing a long post, usually in response to someone in a difficult situation, then have it vanish. It's also that hideous tone of voice: Aw, snap. Ghastly fake toddler speak.

Can we have a more grown up apology please? Something like: Sorry, the site is down again. We know it's irritating. We're trying to fix it.

Aw, snap reminds me of Innocent smoothies pwetending to be my new best fwend. Boak.

goldfinchonthelawn · 23/06/2022 09:25

Just realised Aw snap may not be within MNs power to reword if it is Chrome related.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 23/06/2022 10:34

Hi @Ohsugarhoneyicetea 'Aw snap' is from Google, not Mumsnet. 😁

Can we check if you're still seeing this error message? We've posted possible solutions above if so.

Jalisco · 23/06/2022 22:40

Doesn't help at all - it is still doing it. And the only site that this happens with is MN.
