Just to flip the trend on it's head for a bit - what do you like about the update?

I like that the emoji's no longer look like they were designed by a ten year old in 1998 😎- we've even got jazz hands!🤗

Yeah that's probably a hug but I see jazz hands.

They're just your phone emojis 👍

JaneJeffer · 21/04/2022 02:44

I like the MN emojis but now they look like someone jumped on them Hmm

They're just your phone emojis 👍

They are available from the smiley button in the message editor too, I'm on my computer.

I like that you can unbookmark — apparently. I haven’t tried it but saw it mentioned.

I’ve only ever bookmarked by accidentally touching the icon and it used to irritate me so much that I couldn’t undo it.

urbanbuddha · 21/04/2022 02:50

Lavender blush for my posts. I did try Olive but it looked a bit bile-y.

Search is now rubbish. (Have said that elsewhere but it's really rubbish.)

urbanbuddha · 21/04/2022 02:51

Lavender blush is not lavender at all btw, it's more an intense crème de la rose.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 21/04/2022 02:55

Oh and I also like that we are experiencing a significant moment of MN history, so that in years to come we can say e.g. “Of course, I am old enough to remember the Great Replatforming of 2022,” lifting the gnarled finger of elderly reminiscence at youthful posters

NumberTheory · 21/04/2022 05:18

I like that you can quote quoted messages.

And I assume I'm going to like that the code base is easier for them to develop and fix.

ChessieFL · 21/04/2022 05:31

I like that it’s now very easy to write strikethrough for some reason I could never get it to work before

SnowyPetals · 21/04/2022 06:08

I don't know what all the negative fuss is about. So many unadaptable people have popped out! I wonder how they cope with IT changes at work?! I like that you can now customise from your mobile instead of having to do it at the PC. The look is cleaner and more streamlined too.

PinkPlantCase · 21/04/2022 06:22

The site is loading properly for me for the first time in weeks. It used to take ages to load posts after an advents.

I actually have found the adverts much less annoying too, probably because of the above

kolomo · 21/04/2022 06:27

It's absolutely fine. It's basically the same anyway, but with a basic rich text editor. People always freak out when interfaces are updated. I've had it myself at work. Hopefully MNHQ will be running interference between the complaints and the devs and are experienced enough to know this always happens. Heavy users often experience site updates as an intrusion - it's like waking up one day and someone has redecorated your bedroom. It doesn't really matter if the wallpaper is nice - you feel invaded and out of control.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 21/04/2022 06:27

It is easier to strikethrough. And that’s it. All the rest is now shit and I really don’t like it 🙁

Pinzotti · 21/04/2022 06:29

Easy for photo uploads

Emojis are great, good choice
Easy to follow threads
I like the text of a quote being nested

Don't let folk bully you into a backwards move. If they want to leave, hope the door doesn't hit their butt on the way out 😀

AuntieStella · 21/04/2022 06:33

There is nothing I like or prefer about this version

Saucery · 21/04/2022 06:37

The font is nice and clear. Option to Hide from Active list.

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 21/04/2022 06:37

I’m getting repeated pop ups asking me about Managing my Consent. Is it just me or are others having trouble?

Other than that, so far so good. Like the neater layout. Less 90’s and more 2022.

AnImaginaryCat · 21/04/2022 06:42

Better text editing, the ability to unbookmark, the neater clearer look and one other thing, which I've now forgotten but recall saying "ooh that's good".

No, been asked once.

ThinkForAMinute · 21/04/2022 06:47

It’s fine - the only thing that will take some getting used to is the “threads I’m watching” which automatically puts those that have been recently posted on to the top.

ABBAsnumberonefan · 21/04/2022 06:50

I like the nesting of quotes! I think it’s just one of those that’ll take a few days to get use to

EatSleepReplete · 21/04/2022 06:56

Hurrah, hurrah, & thrice hurrah for finally being able to remove bookmarks!

I also quite like that TIO goes back further than a few days. I never liked that threads dropped off it so quickly, I'm always wondering what happened on a certain thread from ages ago but unable to find it. I do know that some people don't though.

Ah!! That was the thing I'd forgotten I'd like.

Also, judging by many posts, a lot of people are leaving MN forever. So it might mean less moaning and complaining threads? 😆

Yes, every click I have to do it again and again and again. If it wasn’t for that, it’d be fine. I like that finally I can see the mysterious voting buttons that for some reason I’ve never seen before. For those who have no problems, you must realise that it’s down to your specific set-up of type of device, operating system, browser, etc, which is why it works for you. Others without that setup may experience something very different.
