Why did I get a mentioned on thread notification e mail?

@MNHQ I have never had this enabled and have never received an e mail to notify me I have been mentioned on a thread previously. So why did I get one today? I have disabled the option now but why was it enabled, and not by me, in the first place?

Hi OP

We're not sure but we want to get this sorted out for you. In the meantime, we're really sorry for the inconvenience. Has this happened since?

We'll need to investigate, so could you forward us the email you received?

Rainallnight · 09/04/2022 10:22

Me too. I don’t mind but it’s the first time it’s happened and I don’t recall enabling it.

deadlanguage · 09/04/2022 10:23

This happened for me as well, I had to disable it again yesterday

LilyMumsnet · 09/04/2022 10:34

Hi all

Did you have to opt out again, had everything changed once you received the mail and went back to check?

deadlanguage · 09/04/2022 10:49

@LilyMumsnet I was originally opted out of all emails, last week started receiving ones for when someone mentioned me and the ‘see the update on this aibu poll’ ones. When I clicked through from the email to my preferences yesterday they had been enabled, so I disabled them and haven’t had any more.

I had to opt out again and the seems to have done the trick. Who do I forward the e mail I got to @MNHQ

That's good to hear, @ApolloandDaphne. If you could forward the email to [email protected] that would be helpful. Thanks!

Hi @ApolloandDaphne, thanks very much for sending the screenshot over. We're still looking into this but it seems to have been a temporary glitch and we're sorry for any annoyance this has caused.

We've added an @ to this post just to check whether you get a notification, but hopefully now you've opted out you won't be disturbed.

@deadlanguage - we're also testing if you receive a notification email. If we don't hear back from either of you, we'll assume your notifications are still set to 'off'. Smile
