Mumsnet won't delete my posts!!

bekindandgrateful · 11/08/2021 23:39

I didn't know I couldn't delete my own posts, I have put some information out here and I regret it. Please tell me how I can have these deleted? I have emailed and reported the posts and they haven't been deleted! This isn't fair

Go to the post and report it. Using the menu ... thing in the corner.

bekindandgrateful · 11/08/2021 23:41

I have multiple times

It's quite late now so they won't see the reports, best bet is posting in the section "night watch" and they should hide the thread until tomorrow and then the mods will decide whether or not to delete it depending on info etc

NeverTalkToStrangers · 11/08/2021 23:43

They don’t work 24 hours a day - if you’ve only reported in the last couple of hours then it might not go until tomorrow morning. If you post on The Night Shift then the volunteers there have overnight access to hiding posts and threads I think.

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 11/08/2021 23:43

Is there any identifying information in your posts? They can remove them for that.

bekindandgrateful · 11/08/2021 23:43

They should delete it if you ask regardless of their opinions. This is dangerous for people who don't understand how Mumsnet works

OP posts:
OooohAhhhh · 11/08/2021 23:44

It can take a while, maybe day or two to be deleted too. They do get back to you tho

NeverTalkToStrangers · 11/08/2021 23:44

Oops, Night Watch not Night Shift

They don’t usually take things down unless very good reason. I can’t remember if it is in the information when you sign up?
bekindandgrateful · 11/08/2021 23:53

Oh no 😩

OP posts:
MotionActivatedDog · 11/08/2021 23:54

Just tell them it’s causing you RL stress. They’ll take it down.

Well to be fair on any site you shouldn't really post information you're not comfort with people knowing and/or personal information, I appreciate where you're coming from but I think when you sign up it says they won't delete things without good reason or something like that.

However, as mentioned let the good folk over on night watch know they'll hide it and then it'll be passed to the mods in the morning.

a8mint · 11/08/2021 23:55

You should have thought before you posted

bekindandgrateful · 11/08/2021 23:56

@a8mint it's about my abusive partner, I needed advice

It's the internet, how do you think it works? Confused You should assume that once you put information online it will be out there in public, forever.
I do sympathise, I've overshared on here before and slightly regretted it. I'd love to delete chunks of my posting history. But that's not the deal.

bekindandgrateful · 11/08/2021 23:59

@StarryStarrySocks it should be the deal when it makes you at risk

OP posts:
ANightWatcher · 11/08/2021 23:59

You'll need to wait til the morning when MNHQ have reviewed the posts & will decide whether to remove them or not

Nightwatch can only remove certain posts

Smallkeys · 12/08/2021 00:00

Don’t worry they will almost certainly take it down they have on any occasion I’ve asked .

NoNotMeNoSiree · 12/08/2021 00:01

I agree with what others have said, as in how long ago is it since you reported?
If it was only very recently they probably won't have got the report yet.
They're usually good at taking things down if they can be identifying for example.
Try Night Stuff/Watch and it might get deleted quicker.

chesirecat99 · 12/08/2021 00:02
@a8mint it's about my abusive partner, I needed advice
In that case, I am sure MN will take down the posts.

And it is the deal if it makes you at risk.

Just not right now. You have to wait until MNHQ start work.

TableFlowerss · 12/08/2021 00:28

OP calm down. It will be deleted in the morning. Don’t worry about it, they are just normal people who will understand your predicament, especially if it could be outing for you IRL.

Boredmotherofone · 12/08/2021 00:34

Have you just name changed? As I'm not finding any identifying posts under this username??

Same- I’ve just tried to search but nothing comes up so it’s probably hidden so OP it’s fine.
time4anothername · 12/08/2021 00:38

people are not being kind to the poster. This is the only forum I've ever been on where you can't delete your post once you hit the post button. Some you can't delete after a certain period but usually give you a grace period . If someone is in distress and looking for help they can't be expected to run through how this site works when it is so different from any other.
OP, in my experience they do always delete at request but not immediately as it is done manualy.
