I hadn't realised that mumsnet has seperate subforums for Scottish chatters and Irish chatters but does not have an area specifically for Welsh members.

Wales obviously has many commonalities with the rest of the UK but we are also devolved with our own Parliment and laws and have things that are very different to the other home nations.

The pandemic has put that into the spotlight which led to a number of threads in the covid forum specifically for Wales issues see here for the current one: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4157604-Wales-5?msgid=108875806

Many of us have said we would use a Wales forum - it may not be the most busy part of mumsnet but it would be used and in fairness we really should have parity with the rest of the UK surely?

JomeeSot · 07/07/2021 22:46

Yes please, would support this 100%

SoupDragon · 07/07/2021 22:49

I'm surprised there isn't one when there is for the others.

It makes perfect sense!

LaMarschallin · 07/07/2021 22:50

I'd like that Smile Daffodil

MrsFin · 07/07/2021 23:00

If you'll allow Welsh people who live in England to join, then yes please 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

KimberWozRobbed · 08/07/2021 08:22

I'd like this too.

MaudTheInvincible · 08/07/2021 08:24

Ddraignet is a very cool name. I support the idea if only to see that pop up in active!

Iwant2move · 08/07/2021 08:26

Yes please.

SilentPanic · 08/07/2021 08:30

Yay! To be the pedant in the room, the correct term would be Draigsnet. (Sorry!)
The occasional thread pops up in Cymraeg too, it would be ace to have a space for that.

Funatlast · 08/07/2021 08:32

I was only wondering about this last week and thought I must have overlooked it.

Buggerthebotox · 08/07/2021 08:34

Y Ddraigsnet or Draigsnet sounds good. And there's an actual Cymraeg section?

hellswelshy · 08/07/2021 08:34

That would be great, have loved the Welsh threads during the pandemic, they have been informative but also comforting.

DinosaurOfFire · 08/07/2021 08:36

I fully support this idea. I've been on the Wales covid thread a few times but then lose it amongst the other coronavirus threads, also schooling/ childcare funding/ curriculum etc is different in Wales and it would be useful to have a space to talk about it.

Mrsorganmorgan · 08/07/2021 08:46

I'd like one too

MrsFin · 08/07/2021 08:55

I was just about to say that when I read your post!
foxandbee · 08/07/2021 09:47

Fully in support here!

randomlyLostInWales · 08/07/2021 10:08

I'd love one as well - there's so many differences it would be really useful to have somewhere to ask for Welsh advice and information.

thevassal · 08/07/2021 10:55

I would definitely be up for this - seems a shame to have one for the other UK regions but not Wales. Daffodil Dragon

soniamumsnet · 08/07/2021 10:59

Hi - just dropping in to say thanks for starting this, we'll discuss in the office (and Ddraignet is a great name suggestion) Dragon!

In the meantime, would you consider starting a thread or threads, perhaps in the Chat section - called something like, 'Welshnet: a thread for Wales' (or pick a better title, but keep the 'Welshnet:' part for each one) so that we can gauge the amount of interest in discussions? Flowers

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 08/07/2021 11:48

Agree this would be great! Seems a bit odd for Wales to be left out!

grannycake · 08/07/2021 12:06

That would be lovely

thevassal · 08/07/2021 13:02

I've started a post in chat www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4291379-Would-any-welsh-MNs-be-up-for-our-own-subforum

If anyone from here would like to post on there to register interest too?

GigantosaurusRex · 08/07/2021 13:16

I'd love this (but my Welsh language is poor!)
