Was logged out last night and couldn't get back on

Very weird - I posted on a thread around 10.30 last night, closed the page but didn't log out. A couple of hours later opened the site again, it took ages to load, and I was logged out. Made multiple attempts to log in but only got a page with the message "Sorry, we're not accepting any new registrations at the moment, you're welcome to stay and browse" or words to that effect.
Eventually quite a while later I was able to get to the login page and get in.

I've had a quick look to see if anyone else mentioned this but can't see anything.

Hope it was just a technical hitch and not the result of a cyber attack or whatever.

Certainly sounds like a techy glitch - can you let us know what device and browser you were using? Has all been okay since?

Hi Lily. I was using a Nexus tablet. I'm using it again now, and although I'm still logged in, my Premium membership isn't being recognised, as I'm getting ads.

I was logged out overnight too, no trouble logging in again this morning though.

And now that I’ve logged in notifications says 500 Internal Server Error

I was logged out too. I can’t remember the last time I had to log in, I’m surprised I remembered my password! Safari on iPad.

I was also logged out overnight on my iPhone, safari browser. Was able to relog in with my saved details, but this hasn’t happened for me before.

Hi all, and thanks for bearing with us whilst we investigated.

We use a special server (Redis for those of you in the know) to record that you're logged in and to keep you logged in between visits. This started misbehaving last night and wasn't keeping you logged in if you were on some sections of the site (search and homepage were affected, Talk wasn't).

We had to restart this server to fix the problem, but the consequence of restarting meant that it would forget everyone who was logged in. This is why you had to login again.

Everything should be ok now - but please let us know if not.

I'm logged out on my MacBook using Safari, and can't log back in, I'm not being recognised at all.

But am able to post this with my iPad using Safari, which doesn't seem to be affected.

I'm reluctant to set a new password on my MacBook, in case it causes login problems with my iPad!

I was logged out and can now only get in if I use incognito. On the normal browser I get this. I get this from time to time anyway but incognito usually always works.

Bumping to say this has happened to me today.

Logged out this afternoon, my normal password wouldn't let me sign in, I had to reset. All fine now, except I just got another email about password reset (three hours after the original).

Not sure if this is related to the above issue or if there's something fishy going on.
