Deleting reverse OP threads

Is this a new policy?

I know people don't like reverses, but I understand completely why people might occasionally use them, particularly when they need entirely honest responses. The deletion of one last night, simply for being a reverse (the OP was perfectly pleasant and clearly worried about her situation) seemed odd, and, to my mind, unfair.

To be honest a reverse can sometimes show more willingness on the OP's part to hear opinions that are not their own, than the average person, as was the case with yesterday's poster.

Hi OP

Thanks for getting in touch about this.

We tend to delete these on a case-by-case basis, so it really depends on the response from other posters. If it serves no purpose anymore and a majority of users feel tricked, it's likely we would take it down.

Thanks for your response Lily. A few posters did get enraged by it being a reverse, but I think they were unfair to do so in this case. The OP was clearly very anxious. I hope she's okay. Having her thread deleted probably made her feel even worse.

I feel quite manipulated when it turns out to be a reverse. I think its possible not to say who you are in a situation, by using A, B etc.
