How do I replace a link with words?

I can’t figure out how to do this - and have to insert unwieldy links.

Any tips?

[[ at the very beginning of your link (but no space)

Then a space

Type what you want to name your link

Followed by]] (no space)

Took me forever to figure it out. I still preview before posting to make sure it’s worked.

I've read this about 5 times and I don't understand a word 😂
TaraR2020 · 19/03/2021 19:44

You can get right clicking on the link and selecting 'remove hyperlink'

Works in word etc not sure about mumsnet.

What the previous poster was referring to is that if you put a space within the word(s) that make you link it will prevent it automatically hyperlinking.

TaraR2020 · 19/03/2021 19:45

*that make the link

WeeMadArthur · 19/03/2021 19:46

@sittingonacornflake

Links
Links are converted automatically. You can also use the following:
www.mumsnet.com gives www.mumsnet.com
Mumsnet gives Mumsnet

Ah thank you! I did actually know this from a previous site! Flowers

I’m on my mobile, so I don’t think right clicking is an option.

Two square brackets then paste in your link without leaving a space.

then leave one space

then type whatever name you want for your link

then close with two square brackets

The easiest way is to click on the little icon for link, which is directly under this message box - that looks like two links of a chain, or a number 8, side-on. That will bring up two boxes - one where you copy the link and one where you add your text.
