Please can we have the 'ignore thread' clicky back?

The ignore link has disappeared from the thread title in Active Conversations. I loved it - so fast, to click away threads you know from the title are not of interest.

Thanks for putting the Hide link when you are actually reading a thread.

I think this is much better..how ling does it take? i hated that ignore thingy..too negative

Threadworm · 02/11/2007 07:18

So we have 'hide this thread' as a link appearing on the thread's own page, instead of 'ignores' all over the active ocnvos page? MUCH better.

Nip · 02/11/2007 08:52

oh i liked the ignore button, made my message board into the subjects i was interested in. Now i have to go into each thread to 'hide' it .

JustineMumsnet · 02/11/2007 09:53

Morning Mumsnetters,
There seemed to be a consensus that the ignore link on every thread in active conversation gave a negative impression - and we thought there was something in that tbh. You can still ignore a thread that really irritates by clicking on the hide this thread link inside the thread.

Sorry if you liked it the other way - it's hard to please all!

Marina · 02/11/2007 09:57

I think this is a better solution.

not so efficient but much friendlier overall

Thanks Justine

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 09:57

I liked it the other way. Then you could (to pick an example entirely at random... see "McCann" or "hun" in a thread title and ignore it without having to open it up.

I think any time you introduce something new you're going to hear from the people who don't like it more than the (possibly greater number of) people who do.

But it's not something I'm going to lose sleep over.

SoupDragon · 02/11/2007 09:58

Noooooooo! I want "ignore" back! I don't want to go into every post natal thread just so I can hide everyone but the one I want to see. I don't want to go into every thread selling cr*p to ignore it.

Change it to "hide" if you must but bring the link back!

Quidproquo · 02/11/2007 09:59

i like that ignore threads thing there is now MU?CH better but how come blardy buying/selling not on it!

SoupDragon · 02/11/2007 09:59

I don't want to go into a thread I know I'm going to find offensive/distasteful/distressing to hide it.

SoupDragon · 02/11/2007 10:00

In fact, it was the only thing about the new mumsnet that I liked - everything else was set to classic.

SoupDragon · 02/11/2007 10:04

Please can you add a "200 threads" option to the number of active ones you see. I always used to have this but it doesn't work with all the ignored stuff. It didn't bother me when I could prune the list by ignoring the stuff I didn't have any interest in but we can't do that now..

Tinker · 02/11/2007 10:05

Oh, think I was one who complained about ignore but that's because I hadn't really used it. Then did; with a vengeance against all the For Sale and Wanted threads. If I can set Classic to ignore those it won't be so bad. But didn't think I could.

SoupDragon · 02/11/2007 10:06

Or make it an option to be able to ignore threads via active conversations. Those who think it looks negative can have it removed (default setting), those who like to prune can have it there.

SoupDragon · 02/11/2007 10:07

(note to self: post everything in one post in future)

And isn't it more personally negative to go into a thread and ignore it. The implication is that you saw who the poster was and thought "I don't give a damn"

Tinker · 02/11/2007 10:08

Ah, it's been changed. I can now ignore For Sale and Wanted.

JustineMumsnet · 02/11/2007 10:16

Ok well, just goes to show you really can't please everyone...

We'll look at making it a customisable option - how you choose to ignore threads that is - but it won't be for a little while now (as tech is moving on to projects new) and when we do revisit we will also look at bringing in bookmarks and more colour options for fonts etc.

But Soupy just to make it up to you, we'll see if we can persuade him to add the 200 option to active conversations asap.

[wail]

I'm drowning in threads I want to ignore!

kindersurprise · 02/11/2007 11:55

Missing my ignore button too.

JustineMN
Please do not make MN too colourful, I quite like the fact that there is no huge red writing glaring at me!

I want it back too. It's too much faff to have to wait to go into a thread, then click 'hide' (whilst desperately trying to avoid reading said thread), and then you have to wait for that to be acknowledged before you can finally click back out of thread.

Grrrr!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

GunpowderDragonsAndSoup · 02/11/2007 12:05

Oh, I'd love an "ignore poster" option...

That would be truly negative though
