Oh so many advert - why?

I’m a premium member and pay for an ad lite experience.

I’ve just opened up a thread in chat about dog paintings and got seven display ads in the first page alone.

That makes for a horrible browsing experience, much worse than before premium.

@mumsnet can someone update me on whether this is a site glitch tonight, or if this is the new norm?

Oh, and I am not in Dundee despite google ads seeming to think I am, so it is wasted inventory for your advertiser too.

It’s not necessarily the amount of adverts which annoys me but the types of adverts. In the past few days I’ve seen numerous adverts on here for bitcoin,and for some ambulance chasing (have you been in a no fault accident) outfit.

Mine were all for a Dundee jeweller - an ad every two paragraphs, making the site unreadable.

And even in this thread, now getting intrusive ads in the middle as well as at the top

I haven't signed up for premium but I get no ads. Maybe it's the adblocker on my phone.

@justineMumsnet - hiya, the above user doesn’t pay money and gets no ads, I do and get loads.

Please can you or tech feedback ASAP, so I can decide whether or not to cancel premium.

No ads at all here. Adblocker. I get them on my phone but I don’t MN much at all on there so not worth the faff of installing one.

I only MN on my phone.

Off to investigate ad blockers now.

Hi CormoranStrikes, This certainly doesn't look right - you shouldn't be getting display ads if you're signed up to premium. Will get someone to look into pronto.

Hi @CormoranStrikesANoteofDoom sorry to hear you've been having problems. Please can you logout and then login again. That should reset your premium status if something was wrong with it.

Thanks @soniamumsnet I’ve done that, taken off my ad blocker and no change - the ad in this screen grab sums up how I feel!

I wonder if I might have the answer to my own issues @soniamumsnet and @JustineMumsnet - I changed bank cards. So it may be my payment for premium hasn’t gone through - would this hVe put me back in to full ad experience?

Hi @CormoranStrikesANoteofDoom you're absolutely right. We've checked, and yes it looks like the issue was caused by the changing of your bank card. Please try it with the new card and let us know if that works.
