Hi, just popping in to see if anyone can try accessing the site from other devices/browsers and let us know which devices/browsers are showing the error please?

Also, can you let us know if you are accessing the site using wifi or 3g/4g please? Flowers

MJMG2015 · 23/09/2020 22:30

@soniamumsnet

Sorry I didn't realise you'd posted!

It's fine on my iPhone (safari). Not on my iPad (also safari)

Wifi. Both.

I dot suppose that helps much. Sorry.

Works with app on my phone. Not working on chrome since about an hour ago

grannycake · 29/09/2020 12:06

Sorry forgot to say I'm using WiFi

davidsong · 29/09/2020 14:55

Did you try a private browsing window?

LastGoldenDaysOfSummer · 29/09/2020 15:00

Can access site on phone but not on desk top.

ohfourfoxache · 29/09/2020 15:05

I’ve had this for weeks - only accessible using a private browser

Using an iPhone/safari

LastGoldenDaysOfSummer · 29/09/2020 15:08

Ok using Edge but not Chrome.

Sort it out, MN. :)

MrsBartlet · 29/09/2020 15:28

Just started happening for me today. Fine in my phone but not on my laptop.

soniamumsnet · 29/09/2020 16:09

Hi, sorry you're still having problems. Can you let us know if you are accessing the site using wifi or 3g/4g please? Flowers

mrsm43s · 29/09/2020 16:18

This is happening for me today (and it has done sporadically in the past, so I think this is an ongoing issue).

I'm using Chrome on a Chromebook and Wifi.

Can connect using a private browsing window, but not a regular window.

davidsong · 29/09/2020 16:48

@soniamumsner if private browsing works but a normal browsing doesn't, then it's definitely cookies.

To fix it in Chrome:

  1. Click the dots menu in the top right corner of the browser.
  2. Select settings from the drop down menu
  3. On the left, pick "privacy and security" then click "cookies and other site data" on the right.
  4. Scroll down and choose "See all cookies and site data" to get a list of all your cookies
  5. In the "search cookies" box, type "Mumsnet" - you should now see two listings - "www.mumsnet.com" and "mumsnet.com"
  6. Click the dustbin icon to the right of both of those listings.
  7. Go back to the site and log in again, it should work fine for a while until it happens again.

For Mumsnet HQ developers: your "FCCDCF" cookie is holding a great big cob of JSON data, including a list of lists. Your "mnfmt" cookie is holding reams of base64 encoded guff. These two are the most likely cause. Either increase your max http request length or stop writing cheques you can't cash!

davidsong · 29/09/2020 16:52

For Safari on iPad/iPhone

www.engadget.com/2012-11-06-ipad-101-clearing-individual-website-cookies.html

Clear the mumsnet.com ones.

MrsBartlet · 29/09/2020 18:36

I am using WiFi @soniamumsnet

MrsBartlet · 29/09/2020 18:41

Thank you @davidsong - all fixed now!

Thank you, this worked for me.

Thanks for the diagnostic work! We're investigating.

Your browser sent an invalid request.

I am gettting this message since yesterday (29th September) on Microsoft edge.

Works fine in IPAD And firefox browser.

RamblingFar · 01/10/2020 08:31

I keep getting this on my laptop using Chrome today.

If I delete my Mumsnet cookies I can get back in again, but the same thing then happens just a few threads later and I then need to delete the cookies again.

ForTheLoveOfFaff · 01/10/2020 09:20

@MNHQ I'm getting this on my phone since yesterday (android, chrome, mobile site). I've cleared cookies as per the instructions above but it's still not working. I can load "active convos" but the error occurs when I try to open a thread.

ForTheLoveOfFaff · 01/10/2020 09:22

(PS, it works fine in my phone if I use incognito mode)

LastGoldenDaysOfSummer · 01/10/2020 09:26

Still can't get on using chrome, despite clearing cookies.

Any progress?

In Chrome mobile it's dots menu in the top right corner, settings, site settings, all sites, click magnifying glass, search for Mumsnet, delete them.
