Can't see or update privacy settings

From time to time the privacy settings acceptance request pops up when I am on MN - the ones where you can 'ok' all choices or go and choose 'on' or 'off' for various settings (e.g. cookies, device information along with a list of the companies who have access to this data). I went in to change some settings from the pop up but clicked the wrong thing and accidentally OK'd out of it.

I can't find where to go back in and change them - on 'My Mumsnet' then 'settings' I can see 'account details' but this only gives a link to the Privacy Policy or an option to delete my account.

The Privacy Policy says:
"The first time you visit Mumsnet you should see a pop-up along the bottom of the screen. You can choose to accept all cookies, by clicking ‘I Agree’, or you can manage your individual preferences by clicking ‘show purposes’.

At the bottom right-hand side of this page (The Privacy Policy) you should see a settings toggle which says ‘Privacy setting’. If you click on this, a pop-up should appear at the bottom of the screen. Here you can manage all your individual cookie preferences.

If you are a registered member of Mumsnet you can manage your cookie preferences at any time by clicking on ‘My Mumsnet’ and selecting ‘Settings’. Within your Mumsnet settings you should see a settings toggle which says ‘Privacy setting’. If you click on this, a pop-up should appear at the bottom of the screen. Here you can manage all your individual cookie preferences."

I can't see any toggle that says 'Privacy Setting' on 'my account' settings. There is a small blue tab right in the bottom right of my screen with a cog symbol and 'Privacy' but clicking on this does nothing, either on Windows desktop or Android Firefox mobile version of the website. I don't think I've actually tried to click on this bit before, so no idea if it's supposed to link to somewhere.

Either way, there seems to be no way to go in and amend cookie/privacy settings. Is this normal or is something on the blink? Can you only do it when you see the pop-up?

Can anyone else find this option?

Hi OP

Can we ask what device and browser you're using?
You should see a little toggle button at the bottom right of the screen when in your account - you should be able to click on this to edit your settings.

Hi @LilyMumsnet On the Windows desktop it's Firefox and on Android Firefox browser it's the mobile version of the website but have also tried with the desktop version. Is the 'toggle button' the blue tab thing I described with the cog? If so clicking doesn't do anything - right-clicking doesn't either.

This still isn't working, am I just not able to access the settings so don't have any control over them?

Would appreciate if any other poster can see if they can click the blue cog with 'privacy' when you go into 'settings' and it's at the bottom right corner...? Assuming that's what this 'toggle button' is?

Hi @LilyMumsnet I have just come here to find a fix for a problem with cookies that has started since the weekend. After a few clicks on a thread I get page wont load messages and have to go into chrome to clear all mumsnet data. It's only affecting mumsnet. On android phone and laptop both using chrome
My blue privacy toggle doesn't open either - just as @bishopgiggles explained

bishopgiggles · 21/08/2020 21:53

@LilyMumsnet Still nothing - a week later. Does anyone have a working blue privacy toggle?

Hi all

This issue isn't just mumsnet specific - it was a large software update for advertising. We're still waiting to hear back, but we're on it. Flowers

Hi, @LilyMumsnet - any update? Is there any way to put another link somewhere in the settings?

@LilyMumsnet - looks like this is affecting others too:

I've had the pop-up again now, so have been able to set my settings - are we meant to be able to do this any time?

If anyone's still following, it looks like it's been fixed, it's now a link not a cog www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/4036890-Noticed-a-new-privacy-pop-up-More-info-here
