Search by poster gone?

PurpleDaisies · 04/04/2020 15:44

Just tried to find an old post of mine and spotted the search by poster option has gone.

Is this a mistake?

Search by poster gone?

I've just noticed this too.

Bad move.

myrtleWilson · 04/04/2020 15:48

I noticed too

AmelieTaylor · 04/04/2020 15:48

BAD MOVE

Not impressed

Especially as I was following some people whose opinion I value on CV & now can’t find them

VERY unimpressed.

Thisismytimetoshine · 04/04/2020 15:49

God, what was the point of this, MNHQ??

gordongopherthe3rd · 04/04/2020 15:50

You can still search on the app, not specifically by poster but you can put their name in the search field.
It's pretty much meaningless as so many people name change frequently.

FlibbertyGiblets · 04/04/2020 15:50

A glitch, surely, not a deliberate change?

willowpatterns · 04/04/2020 15:52

I have a vague memory of someone on a thread a day or so ago saying that they'd done a search and it had brought up unexpected results. Perhaps there's a glitch and MNHQ has removed that search option for a bit.

FlibbertyGiblets · 04/04/2020 15:52

Urghhh hope we're not to be forced off the old-school mobile site

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 04/04/2020 15:52

"An old search of mine"

Yeah right Grin who were you searching for ? Wink

That's like "asking for a friend"...

Absolutepowercorrupts · 04/04/2020 15:53

I wouldn't be surprised if it's deliberate.
There are some seriously angry posters on some threads, it could be related to posters tracking others to berate them iyswim

PurpleDaisies · 04/04/2020 15:54

@WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles I search posters all the time but this genuinely was me! I was looking for a recipe I’d linked to once and then forgotten. It was a recipe for focaccia in the Lakeland catalogue.!!!

MouthBreathingRage · 04/04/2020 15:57

I've just noticed this when trying to see if a poster who'd started a highly suspicious thread was 'new' or not. Hope it's just a glitch.

gamerchick · 04/04/2020 15:59

It was working a few hours ago. It's probably temporary.

SoupDragon · 04/04/2020 16:00

I use it to track down my flapjack recipe. And Suzy Wong Brownies (although I've saved that now)

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 04/04/2020 16:02

As an aside OP, have you tried searching for your recipe thread using the 'I started' thread option, on the bar with hide/watch etc?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 04/04/2020 16:03

Sorry, just below the Advanced Search button would be a more accurate description of where it is.

PurpleDaisies · 04/04/2020 16:04

I found it on google. Blush

Should have thought of that first!

JustineMumsnet · 04/04/2020 16:17

Sorry we've had to turn this off temporarily to fix a bug. Big apologies for the inconvenience - will let you know our eta for getting this back up and running soonest.

PurpleDaisies · 04/04/2020 16:17

Excellent. Glad it’s not a permanent decision.

Thanks!

OP posts:
NewYearNewTwatName · 04/04/2020 16:19

phew

MoleSmokes · 04/04/2020 16:47

Echoing PurpleDaisies - hope this can be sorted out soon JustineMumsnet.

I have only ever used it to find specific threads that I have found useful. If there are others using it for nefarious purposes then, if they are that determined, they would find other ways anyway.

DramaAlpaca · 04/04/2020 18:03

Ah, OK. Very glad to see it's not permanent.

BIWI · 05/04/2020 07:26

Does this mean tech is finally getting round to fixing Advanced Search @JustineMumsnet?

GetOffYourHighHorse · 05/04/2020 10:06

'That's like "asking for a friend"...'

Grin

What a shame it's only temporary. I bet the rabid stalkers are most put out.

LaurenBacallmefrommyhead2mytoe · 05/04/2020 12:02

Grin We're not rabid stalkers, we're merely conducting research Wink
