Can I ‘unbookmark’?

When I’m on a thread and close the adverts, I, 9 times out of 10, accidentally press the bookmark button.

I don’t like to bookmark but I can’t unbookmark. Is there anyway to do this?

Thanks @Itschristmasimallowedwine for that. When you say your bookmarks, do you mean Threads I'm watching? On this page, you have the option to remove threads - you need to tick the little box beside the thread, and then go to the drop down and select 'remove'.

We'd really like to see a screengrab of what you're seeing when you say you accidentally click the wrong button - this would be really helpful for our tech team to see how it's displaying for you. If you can upload it here, that would be great. Or email it into [email protected]

@GloriaMumsnet Picture where your text is blue is not bookmarked. I’ve circled the little button I keep pressing.

Picture where your text is grey is when I’ve fat fingered the button.

When I go back onto the thread it automatically jumps to that post and 9/10 it’s not where I’ve left it just an accident. (And sometimes I like to re-read the OP!)

It’s not a massive issue if it can’t be changed just a pain in my arse Grin

Me too. I'm on Chrome on the mobile site.

Where you have the option to bookmark a comment I would expect that once bookmarked you can bookmark it. So that button would toggle between bookmark and unbookmark

I have the same problem. I accidentally press bookmark and there's no way to undo it that I can tell.

My problem involves bookmarking.
I can't bookmark on the app, either on an iPad or mobile phone.
I can't bookmark on an iPad using Safari. Bookmark used to work, it's stopped today.

Agree it's too easy to click unintentionally while scrolling. I don't think anything I've bookmarked has ever been intentional.

Same here, @GloriaMumsnet, @soniamumsnet - I'm on a laptop using Firefox and I accidentally saved a post and I can't click again to un-save it, so every time I go back to the thread it takes me to that post, even though the thread is moving fast.

Can't you just scroll back up to the first post and bookmark that instead? I bookmark all the time so I don't re-read the same stuff but if I accidentally bookmark in the wrong place I just re-bookmark somewhere else.

Ah ok, this thread is interesting for me as bookmarks are one of the most useful features on MN as far as I'm concerned so it wouldn't have occurred to me that some posters actively avoid them. I do bookmark accidentally as some of you have said though, it might have been better when you had to touch the three dots then bookmark, but back then lots of people never found out the feature existed so I guess they changed it for that reason.
